I know that lots of people have had spotting and bleeding and it been ok, but I am 5 weeks now (just) and yesterday afternoon I had period pains from about 3.30pm to 7.30pm - they were getting worse and then they started to tail off. I haven't had any spotting though, thankfully. I do not have pains this morning, but I do have what I would call an 'awareness' of my stomach so I think they will come back. Although I know there is nothing I can do, I have taken the day off work and am trying to lie down as much as possible.
I have never heard of this on mumsnet, so I am worried that it is the beginning of the end. Is there any hope for me??

i have constant on/off pains. Both period like pains and ligament pains. i've run out of adjectives to describe the twinges i've had. if really worried go to doctor but what you are feeling is very normal, so don't panic too much. At 5 weeks i was paranoid about every last thing i felt - you become super aware of things you normally wouldn't give a second thought to. Just hang on in there and relax if you can.

Good idea to take the day off.Im 14 weeks and had pains about 3 weeks ago that lasted all day.My sil said it was prob my belly stretching.hope you feel better soon!

ah rubles, i know the feeling and still do. I was wondering all day today about my twinges and little cramps, and I have had them from 4 weeks onwards. I know it's hard to believe but unless it's strong pain, it's probably a good sign to have minor stretching type cramps. Also I never have had pain before m/c's so that's not always a sign anyway.

i think the proessionals call it stretching pains:S thats what they said to me when i was 5 weeks. altho cant think what stretches that early on. but it is quite common to experience discomfort during the early stages of your pregnancy. could be implantation there are alot of hormones running wild so you mite be extra sensitive. im sure everything will be fine and you should relax and rest and make the most of ur day off. i had pain and bleeding at 5 weeks and im now 38 weeks so it isnt always the end

Had pains exactly like period pains, boobs sore exactly like period and a general yuk feeling until morning sickness kicked in! I really thought period was about to start and then when I started being sick I thought it was food poisoning! Only dh suggested pregnancy test (had tested 2 weeks before and got negative!)

As I continued through 1st trimester the pains became worse and was told it was muscles stretching.

I am now 29 weeks and baby is very happy and healthy. I really wouldn't worry it seems quite normally, there's a thread about what no-one mentions about being pregnant, then nods knowingly when you mention it and here it's mentioned quite a lot.

I think there are various aches and pains that happen that worry all first time pregnant women and although you should be aware of them, you have to try not to panic!

I found out I was pg at five weeks and was really 'aware' of my stomach for the whole of the first trimester. Like Sophus says, I have run out of adjectives to describe the pains you get early on - the MW told me that some women are 'super sensitive' to their bodies and are more aware of stretching pains than other women. I was definately one of those women

I bled at 6 weeks and 8.5 weeks but gave birth to my gorgeous boy 13 days ago.

Try to relax (easier said than done) - the cramps indicate little one settling in for the ride

Well I have period pain again as I thought I would, I think that the longer it goes on without any blood then the more relaxed I might be with it...maybe.
I have done a brief search on the net and found a few forums with women talking about their period cramps in the first few weeks so I hope that it is all just part of the normal growth of my uterus. I keep saying over and over to myself 'you are pregnant, you are not bleeding, you are pregnant'.
