Brilliant news, Kate!

jpeg28 · 17/08/2016 16:32

Fantastic news kate so happy for you!!

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 17/08/2016 16:35

Wonderful news Kate. Did they manage to do the nuchal measurements as well or are you going to get another scan for that?

doleritedinosaur · 17/08/2016 16:41

Great news Kate that's brilliant!

HopefulKate1980 · 17/08/2016 16:48

You are all so kind thanks.

They just scanned butterfly - got my booking appt tomorrow and they'll book me in for my proper scan apparently. I'm going t wait until the next scan before I tell people (presuming we get that far) xx

Xxx

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 17/08/2016 17:08

Excellent Smile

MissClarke86 · 17/08/2016 17:17

Kate was this a private scan?

I'm so tempted to book one as I'm still waiting for my 12 week scan date, but at 10+5 I just need to suck it up and wait it out. I'm off work currently (teacher) and all the free time for thinking does nothing for anxiety levels!

Macauley · 17/08/2016 17:31

I am so ill today so very short post but been thinking about you all day hopefulkate. Congrats I'm so happy for you Grin

Whatsername17 · 17/08/2016 17:41

Miss I had one at 11 weeks, then my NHS scan came through for 12.5 weeks. I couldn't wait and I'm glad I didn't as the lady at the private clinic spent much more time resulting me than the NHS sonographer did. Completely understandable given the NHS time constraints buy still.

HopefulKate1980 · 17/08/2016 17:49

Thanks for all your sweet messages. Means huge amounts.

missclarke I'm under a recurrent miscarriage clinic so they scan me every two weeks (from 7). But I now revert to the normal NHS process and have them at the same time as everyone else. I would have definitely had private scans if I didn't get these regular ones. I'd go out of my mind otherwise!! Xx

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 17/08/2016 18:49

Oh no mac! Virus or is it pregnancy sickness back with avengence?

purple I hope your meeting with the ob has gone well.

So bloody tired today. I feel like a broken record, it's all I ever say, but aargh, I am so tired! Going to try and take DD out properly tomorrow. We had a jaunt to the library today for a craft session there and to exchange her books for new ones. Passing the charity shop they had a rack of baby clothes out front, 2 for 95p, so I let her pick a few bits for her dolls (new one coming for her birthday next week, massive excitement building, - this is a doll that drinks and wees!). We've made a fabulous chocolate cake/brownie type thing and picked blueberries and raspberries out of the garden and done some birthday party planning and played bloody vets and babies with her toys, and I am done in. Done laundry and food shopping and hoovering god knows why as it needs doing again now . DH has just taken her swimming and I have plonked my backside on the sofa and am ignoring the washing up. Somehow a lazy day at home is still hard work!

I had a little google earlier because she wanted to know how big the baby is now, and for anyone else who is about 17 weeks - the baby is now 5 inches/4cm crown to rump, so a bit longer if you count the legs, and weighs about 150g, and this week the ears have started working. She thought this was fab so lent straight in to tell my tummy "don't come out yet baby, we don't want to see you until after Christmas!"

Not sure how but we ended up discussing birth/labour. She asked in slightly hushed tones, would the midwife look at your ladybits mummy?? I said, yep, infact she'll stick her fingers up there to see whether there's room for the baby to get out yet. The expression on her face was priceless Grin

AButterflyLightsBesideUs · 17/08/2016 18:50

**That should say 14 cm not 4!

jpeg28 · 17/08/2016 18:55

That's so cute butterfly!
Sorry to hear your unwell macauley.

Today I have had the most boring birthday in history! I have been on the sofa pretty much all day and watched 6... Yes 6 episodes of greys anatomy!! Cramping seems to have stopped so I'm starting to feel more positive. Docs in the am... Hopefully they will take me seriously!

Whatsername17 · 17/08/2016 19:02

Butterfly, my dd is 5 and she asked if she could watch me have the baby. When I said no, she asked if I'd video it so that she could see! Shock When I said no to that, she got really upset because she wants to know what happens so I ended up finding an animated video to show her birth but without the gory bits. It was narrated with explanations and after she watched it she turned to me and said, 'well mummy, that looks quite tricky but I think you can do it!' That was the end of the questions! Dh was cross as he thinks I tell her too much but what was I supposed to do? She has started playing a lot with her dolls, including the one that wees and drinks, so I think she is trying to get her head around everything. Wilkinsons do cheap doll nappies for that doll too. The bloody thing leaks water so always make sure it has a nappy I dry them on the line and they are good for another use!

Whatsername17 · 17/08/2016 19:03

That's really good jpeg!

Macauley · 17/08/2016 19:04

Just a sickness bug I think probably not being helped by my morning sickness too. Not managed to eat or drink much but can still feel the flutters in my tummy so not too worried.

Awww butterfly dd is so cute!

I forgot to say earlier jpeg happy birthday and I hope everything is ok. I had a bit of spotting at about 7 weeks and a fair bit of cramping. The cramps were usually either my uterus stretching or trapped wind. Good luck for docs tomorrow.

purpleviolet1 · 17/08/2016 19:09

Lol whatser and butterfly that is so cute!!!

Hopeful that is such great news. I'm so happy for you and your an inspiration for making it so far Smile

The appt went well. He didn't try to tell me he would get me through it or anything and DH thought he wasn't very positive. However the obstetrician took bloods and recommended I take two different antibiotics (one to protect against UTI since that was thought to be the cause of miscarriage 1, and the other to protect against 'big' infections because of my splenectomy). I'm not too happy about this but I'll give it a shot if it helps me get through the pregnancy.

I've got a scan booked for Tuesday when I'll hopefully be 8+2, all being well.

Will see him again in two weeks time if all is well.

purpleviolet1 · 17/08/2016 19:10

He didn't recommend aspirin until at least 10/11 weeks and progesterone he said he would advise against.

He said 2-5 years ago it's the first thing he would've put me on.

doleritedinosaur · 17/08/2016 19:12

Greys anatomy is so good JPEG! Which season did you watch? I can't wait for the new series.
Hope your appointment is successful, just be honest & hopefully should try to help.

Aw butterfly your DD sounds so cute & very full day too.

Hope you feel better soon Mac.

OH keeps saying to me he doesn't know how I will cope with two & I ended up snapping today saying there might not be two so why keep saying it. He felt awful then as he didn't realise I'm still struggling with the pregnancy.
I'm still utterly exhausted & eating loads but really struggling today. I couldn't even buy the big brother top to announce with next week after scan incase it jinxes everything.

Sorry this isn't such a happy post.

Naschkatze · 17/08/2016 19:15

Glad the cramping hasn't amounted to anything Jpeg. Good luck tomorrow.

Love that way of dealing with potentially tricky questions from little ones Whatser and Butterfly! Children can cope with a lot more than we sometimes give them credit for.

My Angelsounds doppler arrived today courtesy of Amazon prime. Looking forward to trying it this evening and am determined not to panic if it doesn't work because I know it could be tricky to hear anything at the moment.

jpeg28 · 17/08/2016 19:21

dolerite sounds like you've had a really tough day... It's so hard for the OHs to understand how we are feeling. Hope tomorrow is better for you. I'm watching season 2 today... Started from the beginning even though I've seen them all!

purple glad the appt went well and I'll be thinking of your for your scan Tuesday.

doleritedinosaur · 17/08/2016 20:41

Sorry purple cross posted. Really glad the appointment went well. Seems they're prepared for all options.

Hoping your scan goes well.

The consultant said no progesterone with me either so I wouldn't worry, my GP said its more often used as a more safe than sorry than anything else.

Thanks Jpeg, think today is just one of those days plus I'm pretty sure I felt movement last night & know at 10+5 that is early but felt DS at 13 weeks & I was lying down. Which I think has set everything off today.
I just know what can go wrong & scared of getting hopes up. I'm never good before scans anymore.

I watched some of season 2 last week, the bomb episode. I tried watching more episodes but got upset over characters who had left, which I'm hoping was hormones!

Trulyamnearanear · 17/08/2016 21:20

Good luck purple
butterfly your 'lazy' is my full packed day.

I'm 16 weeks now. I've got to hide it from
work for 3 more weeks (complicated and uninteresting story). I'm big anyway plus snacking to avoid sickness so everyone's probably thinking I'm getting fatter.

Nitnat10 · 17/08/2016 21:20

Happy birthday jpeg sounds like a day well spent! Great news about your scan kate, so nice to read positive stories and sounds like your doc is covering a few bases purple. Your little girls sound lovely butterfly and whatser, mine is three and a half and obsessed with babies in tummies, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to bring myself to tell her until I'm quite far along as I suspect she would be so uncomplicatedly happy and I'd want her to just experience the joy. Got a hen do tomorrow night, will only be 5+2 so no way I'm revealing anything, have been planting the seeds with muttering about a UTI and needing to get antibiotics...You know you're on an unusual road when you'd rather your workmates think you have an infection in your plumbing than a baby in your tummy....
