75mg aspirin after miscarriage

Hello,

This is the first time i've ever posted. Usually a lurker.
I am almost 6 weeks pregnant after suffering a miscarriage in March. This would be my third child, all being well.
I suffered a miscarriage with my first pregnancy then went on to have two healthy children concurrently and then had the miscarriage this March and now 6 weeks pregnant.

I have called the EPU as I was advised I could have an early scan (having had 2 miscarriages) and have been advised to take 75mg of Aspirin.

Without them knowing my medical history or having access to my notes they have suggested this over the telephone. Does anyone know if this is safe ? If this is normal protocol ?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

:o)

I've got to take 75mg of aspirin too (I'm 27 weeks now)

The reason I was prescribed was a mixture of previous miscarriage, first pregnancy and bmi

I starting taking it after 2 miscarriages - it wasn't prescribed, I just read around and it seemed that lots were prescribed it after recurrent miscarriages. I was desperate to do 'something'. I've now seen a fertility clinic nurse & she's happy for me to carry on with it. You just get the gastro friendly ones, they're coated & more expensive but cause gastro issues.

Thanks for your replies.
I've read an awful lot of people have been prescribed the low dose aspirin for a variety of reasons, the pharmacist I spoke with when buying it also agreed that it was probably fine but I should have it signed off by a medical professional who has at least looked at my notes or has access to them before i take it.

So much conflicting advice....isn't that just motherhood all over !

Yes it definitely is motherhood all over!

I'm taking 75mg asprin now - have been advised to do so because of previous pre-eclampsia, plus a miscarriage and advancing age (!). Reading up there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of research to support the theory of miscarriage prevention but it's worth a try IMO.

I took it throughout (IVF pregnancy after IVF MC).
