Breach at 38 weeks

What is the likelihood of baby movement head down in time for arrival?

I'm booked in for a scan next week to confirm that she is breach and to discuss options.

There is potentially almost 4 weeks... it could happen.
My dd didn't but I had gdm so had an elective section at 39 weeks.
They can try and turn baby but I was told that's not always successful and if they do turn they can just turn back anyway.
I suppose you need to decide howicu you want a vaginal birth over the possibility of a section.

Sorry..
And that will help you decide what to ask and what route to take.

DD turned down at 36 weeks, but DS turned himself head up at about the same point (only discovered 7 hours into labour, 10 cm dilated at 37+5). Not sure there is much room for movement after 36 weeks or so, but have you come across moxibustion? It's an acupuncture based technique that is said to turn breech babies.

I had a friend who had baby turned and she found it a very uncomfortable/painful experience, and I think she ended up having a c-section anyway.

Ive already decided against a ECV so I will probably end up having a c section unless she turns by herself!

Like others have said it is possible but unlikely. My midwife said once they get to 34 weeks they're pretty much comfortable.

My DS was transverse until 39+3 when he turned (C-section was scheduled for the following day). He was born at 41 weeks and weighed 9lb 8 oz - doctor was a bit bemused that he found room to turn, but he managed it.

Like above, 2 of mine were breech at 38weeks. They were sections anyway but they both turned before my sections, and dr was amazed that they had as they weighed 10.9lbs and 11.06lbs.

KatamariDamacy · 09/07/2016 11:26

All 3 of mine didn't get head down till 38-39 weeks. There's time.

tappitytaptap · 10/07/2016 13:49

Mine turned between 38 and 39 weeks but he was quite little, 6lb, but quite long! I have a reasonably long torso and am tall so there was a lot of room in there I think.

Should add ended up with an EMCS anyway! Which was absolutely fine.
