... How long until labour really begins? Or is it a case of how long is a peice of string?

What are your experiences?

How long is a piece of string, sorry! I was a week before labour started with dc1. Fingers crossed it won't be so long for you!

Oysterbabe · 01/07/2016 19:37

How far along are you?
I lost mine after my waters broke and labour started 12 hours later. My friend just had a baby and lost hers about 2 days before labour started.

AGruffaloCrumble · 01/07/2016 19:37

Doesn't mean anything I'm afraid. Lost mine at 32 weeks with DD2 and was induced at 38. Bloody shows are supposed to more promising but I had bloody mucus for two weeks before my induction too and nothing. I was 4cm dilated by the time I got to induction though actually!

wobblywonderwoman · 01/07/2016 19:39

Oh exciting. I lost mine on Saturday lunchtime. Not much else until Sunday in the middle of the night more 'show' so I waited. Sunday morning - twinges. By 7pm pain very regular. went to hospital. By one am full on. got an injection to speed things up but by 4am was whisked off for emcs. Baby born at 4.20

Good luck - any twinges? Get some warm baths in and eat a decent meal

With dc1 I lost mine 2 weeks before (he was 1 week early) but with dc2 I didn't lose anything despite having 2 stretch and sweeps) she was 2 weeks late. But when I went in to be induced with her I was already 5cm dilated and it came away when they broke my waters. She was born 22 minutes later! I think it's a how long is a piece of string thing sorry.

I lost mine one evening and my waters broke at 5:30 the next day. I was 35 weeks pregnant.

It's time to put the waterproof mattress protector on for just encase.

AdelindSchade · 01/07/2016 20:15

I lost mine in the morning, waters broke midnight and Labour started about four in the morning.

Good luck with it all whenever it happens!

AdelindSchade · 01/07/2016 20:18

Go to bed early and get some sleep.

Heathcliff27 · 01/07/2016 20:22

I lost mine at about midnight, had been having on and off contractions for few hours before that. Waters broke at 6am, DD born at 7.10am but I realise that my experiences are not typical

BeenThereTooSEL · 01/07/2016 20:32

I was 18 hours in when I lost mine!

Stom91 · 01/07/2016 20:36

Lost mine 37/38 weeks and was induced at 40+12!!
Good luck

Whatsername17 · 01/07/2016 21:16

It was a few hours later for me. Rest up!

BeenThereTooSEL · 01/07/2016 21:49

Get ALL THE SLEEP! I got mega pissed hearing this but they were right. Enjoy a hot cup of tea too. Coz you'll have a while until that happens.

Oh and MASSIVE pants! So good post birth

AGruffaloCrumble · 02/07/2016 17:17

Hoping no update means you went into labour OP!

Ellarose85 · 02/07/2016 17:32

Sorry for the lack of update!

I have been sorting out bits and bobs for my DS' 1st Birthday party tomorrow so I have no chance of getting any rest (he's teething also and struggling with seperation anxiety at lovely times such at 1am)

I'm 37+1 having dull pains but no other signs.

I bet my waters go tomorrow during the party!

2 weeks for me. Two weeks of bitching mad Braxton hicks that I had to stop and breathe through, though. SROM almost two weeks to the minute and regular contractions from then to birth 48 hours later. So 16 days from loss of plug.

Cmh1592 · 15/08/2017 00:55

Hey ladies. Have a few questions,
Firstly I'm 39+5. Last 3 days I've been having brown mucus stuff when I wipe, I'm guessing that is my plug? Sorry ftm here!
Also since then I have been getting "stabbing pains in my cervix" the only way I can describe it lol, what could this be? And thirdly today I am
100%sure baby has turned back to back. I've read some scary stuff about how more pain that can be to birth and the tearing is horrendous! Is there a way to move her around or not really? I do hope this baby comes soon! Planned for a water birth, that won't happen if I'm past 42 weeks Confused thanks in advance everyone FlowersGrin
