30 wks and period type pains

I am 30 weeks, and for the last two days have had period-type pains. Is this ominous?
I also have a fibroid in there sticking straight out of the womb wall, so perhaps the discomfort is something to do with that - but I'm feeling nervous.

Anyone else had this sort of pain?

PS: although i have a DS, did not go into labour with him; had CS because of abrupted placenta. So I wouldn't know a labour pain / contraction from Adam ...

Hi

Not sure about the fibroid I am afraid

Could be stretching pains, but tbh I would call MW, JIC> Better safe than sorry and allt hat

I'm 34 wks and have had premenstrual-type pains pretty much all the way through, off and on. It MAY be a growth spurt - I got much bigger around 30 wks and apparently your womb stretching and growing feels just like period pains. As long as you don't get really bad pain and/or loss of fluid or blood, i would think you're OK..but please phone MW for advice.

Probably Braxton-Hicks - I didn't feel mine first time through, and did, second time through. (And I had two CSes, no labour.) I'd go talk to a midwife to be sure, though.

Thanks all. After a very good night's sleep and an easy day, I'm feeling comfortable again, even chipper. No fluid or blood loss. Anything else and I will call the midwife though.

Hi I had a smallish fibroid in my last pregnancy and had pains at a similar time to you also. I remember crying and getting my mum round to go to the hospital with me since Dh was working away at the time. The hosital advised that I could take paracetamol at the ordinary recommended dose before I even went in and to only go in if the paracetamol didn't take the pain away. When I did go in they put me on a monitor (I think that this was to make sure I wasn't contracting) and when no contractions showed up but lots of movements of baby and heartbeat was fine, they sent me home, blaming the fibroid. So... could be labour - lots of people start that way or could be fibroid.
