I am on my third pregnancy and had cholestasis with baby no 2. I have now been diagnosed with it again i am 32 weeks, itching started at 25 weeks then eased off and returned with a vengeance at 29 weeks.

When I had it with baby no 2 I was induced at 37 weeks with my bloods reading 350 and was bit worried as had blood teas 3 weeks ago and said it was normal range (between 0-50) and had blood test wed (17th Jan) and is now reading 235.

Has anyone else got similar stories and do you no what your bloods were at what stage?

I had that from 25weeks on. Dont remember what bloods were at the time but I stoppped all salty foods and stuck to water, fruit and salads only and it did the trick

have you found the websites which support women with OC? When they thought I had it (I don't thankfully) they were really useful.

www.itchymoms.com/ - US site with a lively chatroom
www.ocsupport.org.uk/ - UK site with info but less lively

A hot water bottle filled with crushed ice and a baby hairbrush to scratch yourself with were quite useful for me.

Good luck - it's a horrible thing

You can get calomine cream, rather than lotion, which is thicker. Keep it in the fridge, so it goes on nice and cold.

Are you taking Urso? Did wonders for my itching...

pregnabrain · 31/01/2007 22:43

boring low fat diet and ursodeoxycholic acid helped me.

good luck - it's a horrible illness.

Hi Yea am on urso and taking piriton and levels gone down to 196 and itching no were near as much which is great!

I am 34 weeks now and told they are going to deliver baby at 37 so not long now as in hospital 3 times a week for traces and scans which is costing a fortune in parking etc but least they are keeping a good eye on baby!
