I'm 12 weeks pregnant and usually I can have moderately spicy stuff without it even bothering me well last night I had a tikka masala and I thought they'd maybe made it a bit too hot as my mouth was on fire !! One off thought nothing of it and then tonight me and the oh decided to have fajitas we went for the mild tomato ones and guess what my mouth was on fire again :( the oh was happy as he got to eat mine but I just don't understand can pregnancy hormones cause this ? Has anybody else experienced something similar ? :(

I was the same in my last pregnancy and in this one too. It passed when the baby was born.

Thank heavens it passes! I can't have anything remotely spicy/flavoured and that is the likes or korma and arrabbiata! I'm a complete flake Confused

I was exactly the same from around 7/8 weeks. Chillis that normally wouldn't have phased me blew my head off... but then I ended up off most food/veg/fruit entirely for around 8 weeks. Am back on track now and powering through and ate a number of red chillis last night on a pizza - still blew my head off but was able to enjoy the sensation (if that makes sense?!)

It does come back, I'm the same second time around - off garlic this time too. Makes me heave Envy
