So I bought a ham butty today. A few bites in and I realised it went off yesterday. I'm 16 weeks pregnant. Will I get sick and will baby be ok??!

This is your first pregnancy isn't it? Baby will be fine and dandy, you might feel a bit grim depending on how off off was? I regularly eat on date and over date food without ill effects. I wouldn't worry

Both you and the baby will be fine.

Food doesn't suddenly become poisonous at midnight, if it was rotten enough to make you ill you would have noticed the smell when you opened it and before you took a bite.

Go and find something g nicer to have for lunch Smile

Supermarket pre packed ham is usually frozen to kill bugs, don't worry too much

MyBreadIsEggy · 21/06/2016 14:05

If it tasted alright and smelled alright you and baby will be fine!

Paulat2112 · 21/06/2016 14:05

You will probably be fine. I personally think you always get an extra day on things and if something is out of date by only a day its probably fine. If you start feeling a bit funny within the next few days then maybe give your gp a phone.

Most sell by or use by dates are totally arbitrary and food is fine ages after that. If it didn't smell bad, it was most probably totally fine.

6th pregnant. 2nd baby 🙄

It was a call my mum moment. Thanks for reassurance ladies :)

Ah well, you are more vigilant than me! I was a harridan on my second pregnancy Grin

I might've sounded a bit twatty in my first post- I didn't mean to!
