Hi all... I've just had the results from a routline smear which shows severe abnormalities. Sinice having the screen I've found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant.
Obviously my mind is racing and I'm thinking the worst possible scenarios.
This isn't the pregnancy experience I wanted Sad
I'm awaiting an appointment with the colposcopy clinic (having to chase them which is just adding to the tension).
Has anyone else had a similar experience and can offer some words of support?
Xxx

I had treatment after a colposcopy in Oct last year and although I wasn't pregnant I now have to go back beginning of July for another appointment. I'm currently 10 weeks so feeling a bit apprehensive about it too. I did ring and tell them I'm now pregnant but they still told me to go. They said they would do anything other than have a look to see what's happening/ any changes. Sorry I can't tell you more but I'm going through the same thing x

I had a colposcopy while pregnant (due to abnormalities in smear test) and it was fine. The colposcopy just involves them taking a closer look at the cervix. If they need to take a small biopsy they can do this but it is a very tiny piece of tissue. It is understandable that you are nervous but take it one step at a time. The colposcopy itself is nothing to be worried about. I explained at mine that I was in the early stages of pregnancy and they were very supportive and talked me through exactly what they were doing. Mine turned out not to need any further action. I hope all goes well for you.
