I had a stretch and sweep yesterday

I'm 38+1 weeks and more than ready to have this baby now. The consultant I was under agreed to let me have a sweep at this point because the baby is growing well, I'm low risk and want to avoid an emergency csection like I had with DS1 because I had complications afterwards.

The midwife did the sweep at 12.30pm yesterday and said stay active as in go up and down the stairs. Multiple trips up and down the stairs and hours on my feet yesterday along with 100 squats, spicy meal and being on all fours and so fat nothing! All I've had is more of a watery discharge but to be fair I've been leaky for months now.

So uncomfortable and really want the labour to start. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I think you should chill out a bit. Baby will come when it's ready, there's little you can do to influence this.

I know, I guess it's just a waiting game for now.

I had a sweep yesterday at the same time as you! I am 40+ 1 weeks. Did your midwife tell you how favourable your cervix was? Mine was medium/soft and I was 1-2cm dilated when she did it and baby was very low in pelvis. After it was done I had quite a lot of bleeding all evening, heavy spotting really. It stopped before I went to bed.

This morning at around 7.30am I had a bloody/show mucus plug and have had heavy aching in back and tummy all day. Nothing major though.

I have another sweep tomorrow as have SPD and use a crutch so midwife is trying to help me! This is my second pregnancy.

finger crossed it all starts soon for both of us!

Sounds like yours worked Lumpish!

She said the cervix was soft and she could feel the baby's head but didn't say how many cm's I was. I have felt normal today but think my bump has dropped lower.

It sounds like you'll be in labour soon! Fingers crossed for you :-)

Sweeps have no chance of working unless the baby is pretty much ready to come out.

Sex with a good orgasm (yours!) will have a similar effect and is quite a lot more enjoyable than a sweep Grin
