19 weeks? 20? Around then I think

Hensintheskirting · 13/06/2016 18:47

Your midwife will give it to when you reach a certain point in your pregnancy (can't remember when it is... 16 was? 20?)

DontKillMyVibe · 13/06/2016 18:47

I didn't get mine until about week 28 and I had to chase the midwife up and specifically ask for it. Not sure what the standard time is though

Hensintheskirting · 13/06/2016 18:47

*weeks not was

RNBrie · 13/06/2016 18:48

You can get it after 20 weeks but there is no 20 week midwife appt. So if you need it urgently you'll have to make a gp appt. Otherwise you wait for your 24 week (1st babies only) or 28 week appt.

At my hospital you have your 20 week scan then afterwards have to take your notes to reception and ask for it, it's not done at a midwife appointment.

Got mine at 20 week scan when I met the midwife after

KayTee87 · 13/06/2016 18:54

I got mine at my 22 week appointment

Noodledoodledoo · 13/06/2016 19:12

2nd Pregnancy got it at 28 week appointment as had none between 16 and 28 weeks. HR were fine with that as still gave them the time to do what they needed to do.

leoniethelioness · 13/06/2016 19:45

25 weeks here

Eastend2015 · 13/06/2016 19:50

Your midwife or GP can give it to you after your 20 week scan but bear in mind your appointment may get a little out of sync so you might not see either of them for some weeks after that. My work asked for it by 25 weeks to sort out my mat pay and it was the same for DH to claim pat pay. I think it's also 25 weeks if you are claim statutory pay.

Stom91 · 13/06/2016 22:19

Here it's 25 weeks (first pregnancy). 28 weeks subsequent pregnancies

MrsJoeyMaynard · 13/06/2016 22:27

My last pregnancy I rang the GP surgery and left a message for the midwife about it, as HR wanted it by 25 weeks and I didn't have an appointment before then. The midwife signed it and left it at the GP surgery at her next clinic for me to collect (my GP surgery has the midwife in twice a week for clinics).

SpecialStains · 13/06/2016 22:34

I got it at 21 weeks, but had to ask the midwife for one.

doubletrouble41 · 16/11/2016 15:07

never it appears. 35 weeks and still struggling for my surgery to get their shit together and get it to me. Had to bring it up myself as well. Frankly bloody livid. Living on fresh air. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gothic1 · 16/11/2016 15:38

The Mat B1 can be given out after 20 weeks, so you usually get it at the next midwife appointment after that. If your employer starts asking for it before then, it might be worth leaving a message at your GP for the midwife to pick up when they're there next (with your name, due date and contact number) - they might be happy to leave the completed form for you at the surgery reception, or can contact you to let you know when they can give it to you.

Disclaimer - different trusts might have different policies on who gives the forms out and when! 😊

Laura05 · 16/11/2016 15:39

I got mine at 22week mw appointment (3rd pregnancy). I'm sure employers need it by 25th week to start mat pay process.

bluebunnyblue · 16/11/2016 16:06

As many people have said, you can get the MATB1 any time after 20 weeks. However, it is not actually needed until about 4 weeks before you go on maternity leave. The 25 weeks deadline is for you to inform your employer that you will be going on leave, but you can do that by letter/email, you don't need to hand in the MATB1. The MATB1 is only required to get maternity pay, you are entitled to the time off for maternity leave even if you never show it. Info here
