Is it ok to put newborn straight in cot?

Just that really... we don't have a crib or Moses basket, would it pose any safety risk to put baby straight in to cot?
We do have a carry cot that came with our travel system but that will probably only be used downstairs.
I can't see it being a problem but thought I best check as I'm due in 5 days!

Our DD slept in a cot from newborn. We took one side off and butted it up to the bed at the beginning. I swaddled her from birth and it really helped her sleeping. There were no issues with her being in a big cot if swaddled - I think a lot of parents are just put off the idea as the baby looks so tiny at the beginning but there's no real reason not to use a cot from the start. I couldn't use a sleeping bag for the first few months as she was only 5lb5 and most of them have a minimum weight restriction.

Another thing. The big Aden & Anais muslins are great for swaddling - nice and big and breathable, so no need to worry about overheating.
