Did you go overdue?!

Hi ladies,
I am not due until August (EDD is August 26th) so currently 29W+1D.
I am just dreading the thought of going over due. If you went overdue, how much did you go over by?
Also do stretch and sweeps work? I was wondering if I could get one if I go over!

I went into labour on my due date, but DD took her time and was born at 40+4 after a long labour. I know the due date is a date you look towards and count down too, but honestly try to think of it as a due 'period of time' if you can instead. Baby may come before or afterwards and I think it is easier if you let your body and baby come when it is ready if at all possible.

DS - 12 days overdue
DD - 10 days overdue

They are quite possibly the longest days of my pregnancies I won't lie Grin

Had lots of s&s. Tried all the old wives tales. Baby will come when baby is ready. Does make you feel like you are being productive though gobbling hot curries and DTD etc!

All the best with your impending arrival.

1 week 1 day overdue. I really stressed about it as I wanted a water birth and knew if I went over a certain date I couldn't have it. Did lots of bouncing on Swiss ball and walking and pineapple and sex to get labour going all to no avail. I'm sure what got things going was booking an induction, I relaxed and went into labour the next day!! Still didn't have a water birth but didn't care Grin

Loved reading all your replies ladies! The reason I don't want to go over due is because I'm suffering with bad SPD :-( Sex is out of the question for me as I'm no longer in a relationship, will probably take a long stroll somewhere near my due date though!

DC1 was 9 days early. Had a show and was getting fed up (its was summer) so had a curry for tea, a long walk then sex and my waters broke about 4 hours later.

DC2 was 6 days late. Did everything possible to get him out, had a sweep at 40+3 but eventually my waters broke randomly one morning.
With both of mine waters went about 10 hours before contractions and had short, sharp labours (2 hours and 1 hour).

Congrats.

I had a sweep on day 7, it didn't work, even though Helga the Stormtrooper with her big man hands tried so hard to make it happen.

Went in to be induced on day 12, on day 14 I had a c-section, cos after two days I was still only 1cm dilated.

Whatsername17 · 11/06/2016 22:02

Dd arrived at 41 weeks. I had a sweep and was already 2cm dilated (I think I'd been in slow labour - contractions kept starting and stopping). I had a sweep at 10am on the Friday, dd was born 2.16am Sunday morning.

I was 5 days early. It probably has nothing to do with anything other than luck but I bounced in a ball every night from 37 weeks and drank about four cups of raspberry leaf tea a day. Again prob just luck but my labour was 3hours and 55 minutes xx

Two sweeps that didn't work at 40 weeks and 40 + 7. Was induced at 40 + 12 and baby was still in no hurry whatsoever and took another two days.

A midwife told me that it depends on your cycle length - if you have a 28 day cycle it's likely your baby will be born nearer the due date than if you have a longer cycle. I don't know if that's true for everyone though.

My DS was born 41+3. I was induced at 41+1 for concerns over his wellbeing
