Hi ladies. Bit of a random question I guess! I'm in very early pregnancy 4wks + 4 and am off on holiday to Greece next week (booked months ago). Wondering if anyone has any advice on what to drink? Normally I'd have cocktails (obviously ruled out!), iced tea's, diet cola, fruit juice, etc. But everything I'm reading seems to be saying to avoid these drinks! Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and what they opted for?

I went to Spain when I was 5 weeks and stuck to bottled water. Not very exciting but I felt safe with it. Have a great holiday!

I've just come back from Spain and really liked fizzy water with a splash of lime cordial. It's lovely and refreshing. Have a lovely time!

We were trying when I was on holiday last October and I stuck to mock tails. They were gorgeous!

Why can't you have iced tea/coke/juice?

Lozde · 04/06/2016 14:31

Thanks ladies

FeckinCrutches - because of the caffeine in tea and coke and risk of bacteria in fresh squeezed juice

But you can have caffeine can't you?

FeckinCrutches · 04/06/2016 14:38

You can have up to 200mg a day.

DavidPuddy · 04/06/2016 14:39

Bittled water is yourbest bet, but then it always is, pregnant or not. That being said, staying hydrated is far far more important than drinking the 'wrong' thing, so if the only thing to hand is a coke, then go for it. I pretty much lived off of coke in the early weeks of pregnancy, I could stomach it better than water.

Pinkheart5915 · 04/06/2016 14:41

Caffine is ok up to 200mg a day ( NHS advice) so coffee, tea allowed, and cola
Water ok
Buy cartons of juice to drink

I'm 30 weeks now with my second and I have the old glass of cola and 1 coffee a day.

Lozde · 04/06/2016 15:33

Yes aware it works out to about 2 - 3 drinks a day depending on caffeine content but that's not much in the heat so just wanted to know what everyone else drinks in similar situations X
