I'm hoping for 2-3 mins for optional delayed cord clamping or whatever it's called. Lotus birth personally makes me want to vom. Do what you/your partner want though.

Just Googled 'lotus birth'... you learn a new thing every day.

Depends, if you want to donate stem cells then the cord needs cutting asap.

If not then wait for it to stop pulsating (2-3 mins usually). My dc have been home births so no stem cell donation option so we've waited.

Could not bear the idea of lotus birthing!!

Also just googled lotus birth and had a little grimace to myself.

HAHA you've cracked me up...I know I couldn't believe it, with the Lotus birthing.

How about waiting til placenta is delivered?

I was told at my latest midwife appointment that they no longer cut the cord straight away but wait a few minutes for it to stop pulsating. I'm not sure if this is the norm everywhere now though but it's what we're happiest with.

waiting until the cord has stopped pulsating is good practice, anywhere between a couple of mins and until placenta has delivered

We waited until the cord had stopped pulsating and did it then, for both DDs.
