I'm not sure if I've got a bump at just 5 weeks or if I'm generally just looking at post Xmas blubber. I've got no other symptoms (a cause of constant stress given I've had 2 miscarriages) and with my ds (now 18 months old) i never had a really big bump.
whaddya reckon?

I know exactly what you mean, It seem like over a couple of days going from 4 weeks to 5 weeks my belly ballooned. Being my first pregnancy I thought this was pretty alarming. I asked my G.P. about it and he said the size is not due to the baby or the uterus, just simply the mountain of hormones raging at the moment. He also said that a larger belly is also a side effect of constpation as the bowels are sluggish. Great....

Thanks Norfolkbumpkin. That makes sense as i'm definately suffering with constipation!! Hurray. I have a pregnancy sympton. Feel slightly less paranoid now (for a little while anyway.)

lol, for what its worth tho i was in bonafide maternity clothes at 11w. if youre small thats a factor too, you notice every little (or not so little) thing

I had a bump on 2nd pg before I had even done a test. My Dh kept saying ' you're pregnant you are'> It just popped out right away..

well I foind out when I was 5 week sna dI swear the day after I felt sick as a dog and looked 5 months pregnant lol

I doubt very much it's a pregnancy bump due to baby, it's only mm's big! It will probs be down to bloatedness or change of bowel movements mow that you are pg. I found out i was pg at 4 weeks and was badly bloated for a while which gave me a 'bump' sorta look, but i knew there was no way it could be the baby. I didn't really notice any real bump till 18 weeks maybe?!! Even now at 21+3 i can still get away with not looking pg, and am still in my size 8 jeans for which i think i deserve i freakin medal!
Congrats on pregnancy by the way x

You didn't say whether it's your first pregnancy. If it's not your first you can put weight on much more quickly - your body "knows" what to do because it has done it before. Also your tummy muscles are slack (sorry!) from your last pregnancy (unless you've been spending 4 hours in the gym every day). The preggy hormones also have a loosening effect. I started putting weight on almost the minute I fell pregnant with my second, in fact that's how I guessed I was pregnant. If it's your first, then don't worry, it's probably quite normal and no once else will have noticed anything.

hurrah i am exactly the same. I am now 10+2 and am struggling to hold the bump in. This is my second time so knew that it couldn't be a 'baby' bump buts its nice to read that the reasons why.
