Morning sickness gone & faint HPT!

Hi,
Sorry if this gets asked often, I'm a newbie, this is my first ever pregnancy and I'm concerned.

Found out I was pregnant with an incredibly strong positive HPT at 6 weeks, found out it was twins at 9 weeks when admitted to hospital for something else unrelated and they needed to scan my abdomen (they could see 2 pouches but couldn't comment on viability or anything at that time).

I've had mild morning sickness from about 6 weeks, feeling queasy at certain points during the day, feeling massively full very quickly at dinner time (evening only).

I'm now 10+ 3 and since 9+6 I haven't had any morning sickness at all. This was really my only symptom so now it's gone I thought I'd do an HPT just to check, so did an asda test last night and one this morning. Last night the test had a really really faint line, this morning even fainter.

I've had no bleeding or spotting but I'm guessing that's that. :(

Any advice? Or anyone else have similar experience and how did it turn out?

I think it's normal for morning sickness to recede at about 9 weeks as its when the placenta takes over. (This happened to me and I freaked out but found loads of stuff on internet where it was explained).

I'm afraid I don't know about the preg test. I have read before that they no longer work when you are 'very' pregnant as there's too much of the hormone or something (called the Hook effect) but I'm afraid I don't know how true that is, but I think even if true it is quite rare.

I think perhaps it would be worth getting down to the nearest EPU and getting checked.

At 7+4 both my twins had heartbeats and I have scan photos but that was from a trans vaginal scan.

Morning sickness does come and go, and you can't rely on the strength of a HPT line as an indicator of whether everything's okay or not.

When's your next scan?

andadietcoke thanks for the reply- I'm booked for my first proper pregnancy related scan at 12+5 (14th June) so a good long while to sit and worry.

Frustratingly we're away this week to a remote part of Scotland so don't have access to anywhere that would do a paid for scan so I'm just left stewing!

Hang in there. No pain and no bleeding are obviously good signs. I seem to remember panicking similarly around the same time because I had a little bleed and a HPT was lighter - everything was fine. I spent a fortune on private scans, even with all the extra ones you get for a multiple pregnancy, because they don't kick in until 28w for DCDA twins (think 24 weeks now though).

Hi, morning sickness going is nothing to worry about as others have said the placenta takes over and if your lucky you start to feel better.

The pregnancy test is also nothing to worry about. I've forgotten what the technical term is (there is one) but once your htc levels reach a certain potency pregnancy tests stop picking it up so they become fainter and eventually start giving a negative result. It's nothing to worry about at all so as long as you've had no bleeding or severe pain I would be inclined to assume that all is well

My morning sickness disappeared around 10 weeks with DS1, he was perfectly healthy and the placenta had taken over.

Look up the 'Hook Effect' in pregnancy. Once your HCG reaches a certain level it can actually interfere with pregnancy tests and cause negatives when you are in fact very pregnant. If you are pregnant with twins it's possible, try diluting your urine with a little water and testing again (this, apparently, reversed the hook effect and allows a hpt to give an accurate result again)

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry. If there are no other warning signs e.g. Bleeding or painful cramps chances are everything is ok. Can you ring your midwife for advice or reassurance?
