Stupid question.. Lush bath bombs

Probably a really stupid question, but are lush bath bombs ok when pregnant? My midwife advised to avoid aromatherapy/essential oils. I've had a look on google and there's nothing conclusive.

Even as I type this I know I probably sound a bit hysterical! My sister bought me a lovely gift set from there and I would hate for it to go to waste if I'm taking my midwifes advise too literally!

It's posh bubble bath. It will be fine.

I used to work there. As Blanche said, if you've used them without problem before, there's no need to stop now

Totally fine, not enough essential oil to cause an issue. If you are worried stick to anything with lavender as it's totally safe in pregnancy.

When I went into discuss I was even given a free massage bar to say congratulations :)

You need to avoid Clary sage as it can induce labour and cause fetal distress and don't forget that your skin can be more sensitive when pregnant.

Clary sage is the big no-no but if I remember correctly lush don't use this oil.

I studied aromatherapy years and years ago :) so bit out of touch but whilst they smell like a whole bottle has been poured in the bath the actuall amount in a bath bomb is very small!

I specifically asked that question to a manager in Lush when I was pregnant and she said that they were ok. They can't sell anything with high enough concentrations to cause problems.

I used to work for Lush (a long time ago, mind!) and everything is safe. I remember they used to discourage young kids under 5 from using the Bubble Bars as there was a slight risk of uterine infection- nothing serious but not much fun. So I guess if you're a bit sensitive down there maybe be aware of that...? I love the bath bombs tho, such luxury!

I think they are fine to use, but (even if you're not pregnant) they aren't something to be used more than once or twice a week I'd say, as they can upset the ph balance of your vagina.

I like the sound of you MW shes' bang on. Aromo oils have small enough molecules that they cross the placenta. Like you also seen on interen t there's one to avoid at all costs and some that they can't decide on. For me I wouldn't risk it, knowing that they haven't got th ethumbs up woudl stop me from enjoying it anyway.

Some manufacturers say its such a small amount don't worry but that's a pointless thing fo rthem to say because the very nature of aromo oils is that it takes a truck load of e.g lavendar to make just a vile of it.

Any bath additive can cause thrush so I'd avoid I'd you're sensitive to that kind of thing as it's more of a pain during pregnancy. I've used some Lush bath bombs and they didn't 'upset the balance' for me so to speak :)

Ooh I used one called The Experimental or something this week and it turned my bath multicoloured and smelt gorgeous - and it had popping candy at the end!

I've also got one called Intergalactic (I think) waiting on the shelf.
