(Awful) mid back pain overnight - 2nd trimester

I'm having terrible aches in my mid back - worse at night - which wakes me up and then makes it almost impossible to lie down. Went to GP who gave me codeine/paracetamol but this is only helping a bit. Anyone else had this? Any suggestions re dealing with it? Midwife suggests either physio, acupuncture or osteopathy but am unsure which to go for. Am 20 weeks pg.

I went to antenatal yoga last week for the first time which I spose may have made it worse (already had some symptoms before).

I am only 7 weeks pregnant and never been pregnant before but I am experiencing quite a lot of discomfort with my back aching all the time. I am not over weight and only 24. I hope it's normal as I read somewhere that it could be because of an increase in hormone levels, but most people experience this in later pregnancy because of the weight of the bump. To add to this, I am experiencing some period like pains, but they are not bad, they just come on and off ? I?m not bleeding thank god, but it does concern me. I have my first midwife appointment in 2 weeks, so she might be able to put my mind at rest. Do other mums to be go through this in their first trimester?
