very personal sex question - TMI alert

I am pretty late on in my pregnancy, only a very few weeks to go, and some signs that it might come earlier than that (overly big bump, sore BHs, baby engaging.)

However, I have been suffering from terrible insomnia and the only thing that seems to send me to sleep with any success is to, well, give myself a rush of endorphins, if you follow me... the trouble is I am now doing this 2 or 3 times every night just to get back to sleep.

I have had something of an increase in interest in sex in 3rd tri, just as DP has started being put off by the idea of a third party being present (and probably also by my looking like a whale these days), so there may be an element of that to it as well.

Question is, is this going to do harm ? Am I in danger of bringing on early labour or distressing the baby ? Or is just feeling a bit sleazy and jaded the only side effect ?

I remember the Feb 06 mums realising that that was a great cure for preg insomnia .

I think you;d have to do a hell of a lot to bring on labour (which I doubt is even possible) - no side effects (don't go feeling sleazy - it works! )

it's the prostoglandins in semen that can start labour, not paddling with the little man in a boat.
Flick away

Don't worry your baby will be getting the endorphins too

Tutter · 16/01/2007 08:22

god, whatever works. i remember the insomnia well. why sleazy? it's your body after all. the baby is blissfully ignorant to whatever goes on in your bits, honest. and if dp won't oblige, then what's a girl to do?

have you tried other things to aid sleep? (lavender oil, warm baths, hot drinks, listening to music...)

Hell no-a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do I remember being like this when I was having DD1 but used my vibrator every morning. DD1 is fine and 'O's are soooo much better when you are PG

Good Luck

orgasm releases oxytocin, which is the same hormone that causes contractions BUT THIS IS NOT A BAD THING. you can't possibly cause any harm. labour will start when you are ready.
in late pregnancy the increased blood flow and pressure in The Area will increase sexual interest in ~some women
go for it love.

wongster you have sucha great turn of phrase

Dp is full of glee (and hope) noting that I get to sleep best following the big O.
some days however I'd rather take the insomnia
Much to his chagrin...
