How do I check if a cot is still safe?

I have the cot I slept in as a baby 32 years ago, but someone suggested contacting the manufacturer to check it hadn't been recalled or anything like that.

I've tried Cossato, but as the company was bought in 2004, none of the staff worked there prior to then.

Can you think of any other ways I can check the safety of this item?

Have a look at the advice here about modern cot safety standards, if if conforms to them it should be fine with a new mattress.

Put a lively toddler in it, if it (the cot) survives, should be ok!
