If I go into labour for emergency I want to use a hospital that is same distance (slightly nearer) than hosp I've currently been seeing midwives. I haven't been long as just moved to area.

Nothing wrong with the MW's they're great but the other hospital is better organised more staff etc, etc. Has good reports for emergencies etc.

How do I go about this, do I wait until the day, can you just phone my chosen hospital and roll up? that's what I've read so far but would like to check with you Mumsnetters?

Anyone else changed hosp's for labour or even whilst in labour?

Only like to hear from experience mum's or mum's also thinking of doing the same NOT people questioning why I'm doing this (haven't got the time for that!)

Cheers fellow bumpers

I would guess ring up or make an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred to the new hospital.
I have recently moved house and did this, it should be much the same process. When the midwife from the new hospital checked me in she wanted to know the reason for the switch (and from where)

I'm doing this, but I had to book in with that hospital. All my notes are that hospital's notes. I'm still seen by my local midwife team. Some things such as 12 and 20 week scans are done at my local hospital, but the anti-d and GD test done at the hospital I'll give birth at. It's a bit confusing!
