OK..maybe this is a slightly obvious question to everyone else but am still gonna ask!

I am struggling to get my head round the whole 'travel system' thing. I understand that you can choose to have a pram/puschair on the same wheels system...but why would you want to attach the car seat instead?

Am trying to think of a scenario when you would want the baby to remian in the car seat and so attach it to the wheels, rather than have them laying flat on backs ( which is surely better) in pram IFYSWIM. If i was bobbing into a shop then surely dont want the agro of wheels too so would carry car seat or put in trolley or if i was gonna do some serious shopping would put baby in pram part so they could be flat?

Am i havign a really blonde AND pregnant moment??!!

apparently, the baby is ok in a car seat for 3 hours.
thats what mw said.

If you don't want to wake them up it can be handy
Depends how much you are in and out of the car

Unfortunately most travel systems are a bit rubbish as buggies. I went for separate car seat and buggy as I don't drive very often

Maclaren have a new one out though - that's probably worth a look

  • for when you have 3 shops to pop into and the baby is actually asleep for the first time in 7 hours and there is no way you are waking it by moving it to the pram
  • for when you have your second child and you are still using this pram. And it is easier to stick the carseat on the wheels and have the toddler hold onto the pram while you pop into a shop, than to lug carseat on one arm, hold the toddler's hand, and try to pick up your shopping.

Depends how good your baby is at sleeping really. If h/she is good at it, it won't be a big deal to move from carseat to pram.If your baby is thewakeful sort, then keeping them asleep in the carseat may become an all-consuming need.

I never moved my car seat out of the car for either of my two children.

Orchhide

No your not having a blonde or pregnant moment i could never see the point. Like crocodileKate
the carseat lived in the car.

Also the have been some concerns about babies who spend hours in carseats. I also feel that there was very little padding in the carseat so i would rather have had dd in her pram as it was more comfortable.

I never saw the need for a travelsystem neither. My Baby's never woke when asleep and transferred, unless it was time for them to wake anyway!
Carseats are the best and safest way to transport a child in a car, but that is where it ends....!
