37 week induction stories

Hi everyone,

Would love to hear your stories of 37 week inductions. I am at the hospital having failed my first propess at 37+1. They put me on 24 hour rest then and are going to try again today.

My Bishops score is 1 and dilation is 0 after all this time. Baby is climbing up my ribs instead of moving lower. I am beginning to feel that I will end up with a c-section at this rate. Would love to hear your success stories!

I don't know but I might need to be induced at 37 weeks too so I'm going to follow with interest. I hope it all works for you

DS2 was induced at 37 weeks.

They tried the pessary but that didn't start labour, so they put me on a drip (syntocinon?) to start contractions. Can't remember what they said about dilation before the drip, but I suppose it must have looked promising enough for them to get me on the drip.
I got stuck at 2 cm for quite a while - I think we were coming up to something like 12 hours and getting to the point where the consultant was talking about a c-section as things weren't progressing - but then things took off and I went from 2cm to DS2 being born in under 45 minutes. So no c-section or ventouse / forceps.

But DS2 had been very low down and I think his head had been engaged for a week or two before labour. I don't know how much difference that makes. No idea about Bishops score either, no one mentioned that term to me.

I was induced at 38w, but my bishops score was 7 so obviously a fair bit different. Once contractions started it was about four hours all in all! I was induced at 39 with my first DD and had an unfavourable cervix and low bishops score. I had two sets of pessaries and my waters broken and then again it was four hours until birth.

Thanks crumbly. Sounds like once you get to 7ish it all goes swimmingly. I am 1 for now and due to start second lot of propess in a bit. Lets see if that pulls me up to 7 in a day. Seems like a big ask!

I was induced at 36 weeks, with a completely unfavourable cervix. Took two pessaries over the space of 48 hours to get labour going. The second one went in at 1pm and I gave birth at 2.31am the following day. My labour was insanely fast when it kicked off. No more than 2 hours from first pain that I would class as starting to be painful and delivery.

Wow Sunny. Wish I had that. I have had 2 rounds of propess now with a 24 hr break in between. No joy. Cervix is still long and firmly closed. Back in on Monday to try prostin but c-section if that doesn't work. Oh well!

I was 1cm dilated when they said they might be able to break my waters at an absolute push and then he was here less than 2 hours later so I wouldn't always believe it's no where near happening! Have you had any pains or anything?

Yep. I had contractions every 5 minutes or so on the first round which died away once the propess was taken out. Then every other minute and really strong on the second round yesterday, which again died away once the propess fell out about 11 hours in. Nothing in my rest periods. Cervix hasnt changed at all from when I first went in. Long, closed and stuck so far up its almost touching my nose!

How long did they take it out for? I'm sure it was pretty much one out one in for me. Then they took it out when they decided I was 1cm and my body just went whoosh. It's bloody frustrating though isn't it. Hope it happens soon for you. Why are you being induced?

Two rounds of pessaries for me at 37 weeks, and then the mucus plug came out (gross, btw) and then they were able to break my waters - after a further 2 days of waiting for a bed to open up! Baby born two hours later.

I was induced at 37 weeks.

I was told I had a high posterior cervix (no idea what this means but I don't think it's good )

Had one pessary in and started having contractions after a couple of hours, they monitored me and decided because of the amount of contractions I was having they couldn't give another one as I would over contract. I was at 2cm by this point, they gave me a sweep instead which stopped everything.

The next day I was checked and was still 2cm so they sent me down to labour ward to see if they could break my waters. They were able to break them around 10am and I was told they would watch me for the day and put me on the drip if no change by the evening.

7pm I went on the drip and ds was born at 4.39am the following morning .

Just seen his! I hope by now you've had your baby. I was induced at 37 weeks and it failed after a pessary and 2 prostins. I had a c section after 5 days.

Sunny they gave me a 24 hour break between the 2 propess. Being induced because of super mild levels of OC. Docs are all cery divided if I should be induced at all but are beig over cautious.

Thanks ducky. I have the same thing. High posterior cervix and the 2 rounds of propess have made no change at all. Its still stuck up there where midwives can barely reach it and refusing to open.

champagne - nope. Still pregnant. Lol. I have refused the 3rd attempt. If 2 didnt make any difference, doubt the 3rd will and last thing I want is a long labour followed by EMCS. That will make me really knackered. So opted for an ELCS today. Its a far cry from my nice birth centre water birth but have to get the baby out some way.
