Chicken pox!!

So my step son contracted chicken pox about 2 weeks ago and hasn't been allowed contact with me because of the risk for the unborn child. How long do I have to wait before I can be near him again. I'm sure it's ok now but his dad doesn't want to take any chances

Have you had cp yourself? My husband had cp when I was pregnant and even though I'd had it when I was younger my gp took a blood sample and tested for immunity.

Once all the spots are scabbed over there isn't a lot of risk of catching it I don't think, this is usually the criteria for nurseries etc

Chicken pox is mainly airborne spread in the couple of days before the spots appear. Once the spots appear, the risk of infection drops remarkably as then the infection risk is from contact with the fluid from the spots. Once the spots have dried up (5-7 days), there is no risk.
