Buy more clothes or simply hope for the best?

I am 39 weeks pregnant and down to the last three items in my wardrobe after finding my bump has grown again this morning. In theory, it should not matter as I could give birth quite soon. In practice, the ladies in my family go overdue with their babies and (after spending 42 weeks pregnant with my first), I am grimly expecting it to last until the end of the month.

I was the same, except I was only 37 weeks. I had 2 vest tops, a pair of jeans and a pair of leggings. I could only leave the house in the jeans. I went online, ordered a handful of items to see me through as my family have 42 weekers. Baby arrived before the clothes did! A week I lived in leggings whilst I washed and dried my jeans to go out in!

I had to wash clothes every day at the end with DD.

Charity shop and buy a couple oversized maxi dresses? My mum is bigger than me and lent me several - didn't look amazing, but a godsend to not by more expensive maternity clothes!

I think this all depends on how you feel with what you have (can you make do?!) and what you have planned! If you have to leave the house over the next few weeks then maybe purchase something, but aim for something that you can use again afterwards (I.e a baggy top/dress that you can belt etc)

I wore my partners shirt out shopping today and, although I felt completely self conscious around all the thin, summery-dressed women in Tesco (why do they always appear when you feel like shite?) it was actually a relief to be able to wear something that didn't make me feel uncomfortable!

I've taken to wearing my DP's clothing now ... I just belt most tops and try to make an outfit look 'okay' with shoes, bags and huge sunglasses haha!!

I'm 34 weeks and spent today sweating my fat bits off as have nothing summery that fits agh - it could be eight weeks before I pop - seems silly to buy stuff for 8 weeks but if summer is here I will need to!
If I were you i would maybe get some £10 h&m maternity leggings and a couple of baggy summery vest tops - these will all be wearable post-birth too - and comfy! maybe one maternity light dress just if you want to look prettier - lots on ebay and Facebook for cheap or asos sale. You can always sell on after xx

In terms of buying for summer i qouldnt bother as its meant to be back to usual weather on tuesday!

Im 31 weeks but am now down to one pair of (ripped in the bump band) jeans and one pair of leggings... im trying desperately to just muddle through tbh! If i were you i wouldnt but anymore but having said that if you are planning on having anothwr baby in the future it wouldnt be a waste?

All, and I mean all my post birth photos with DD cannot be shown, the clothes weretoo small etc, I look a mess. There is nothing I can proudly display for my own sake.
Please please please go and buy something decent and get the pictures I never had.

Thanks all. If I thought ordering clothes would get this baby out, I would be online faster than you could say "clickety-click!" As it is, I am going to pick a couple of your suggestions and get some cheap leggings combined with anything I can find in the charity shops on Monday. Pagetta, I feel your pain - lots of thin, accessorised women in flowery dresses were swanning around my supermarket this morning. I mentally inflicted my toddlers sticky hands on them.

Oh yes I wore DH's t-shirts and leggings, it looked OK.

Go to Primark and get some cheap big tops and what not. It will be the nothing compared the the amount you'll spend on clothes for the baby anyway!!!

Primark have cheap jersey dresses at the moment £3.50, I bought a couple to wear (am 33 weeks ) I didnt want to spend ££ as I am being induced in 5 weeks!
