Unplanned pregnancy

I have 2 kids and just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd. I was pregnant 4 months ago but it ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks. When that happened my hubby and I decided that we weren't sure if we really wanted a baby and would wait till next year to decide. I thought my periods were going back to normal and this month we had sex twice unprotected when I thought I was absolutely safe. I took a hpt today and I'm pregnant.

Can anyone relate to this and will everything be ok? My kids are 3 and almost 5.

Also, when should I go to the doctor? In the past I've only gone when I was 7 weeks or so. But I don't know if things are different once you have had a miscarriage.

I haven't got any children already but I had a blighted ovum miscarriage at 7 weeks in August and was pregnant again by the end of November. Am now almost 27 weeks pregnant and baby is healthy so far. I went to the Dr with the first pregnancy, but with this one I just rang up GPs and asked to make booking appointment with midwife. I think they only see previous miscarriages as an issue if you have had 3 consecutive ones.

With just one miscarriage they will just see you as per a 'normal' pregnancy.

I'm slightly confused as to why you thought it was 'absolutely safe' to have unprotected sex at any point in your cycle. There's no such time. It amazes me that this belief persists!

Thanks for the info. Well I used to have such regular cycles that I used to wonder how people have accidents. I knew I was ovulating on day 14 and my cycles were 28 days without fail, and if you have a regular cycle you can pretty much be sure that having sex on day 8 or day 20 for example is safe. However, my mistake was that I assumed my cycles were back to normal when they apparently weren't. It's totally my fault and I take full responsibility. I just pray everything goes well now and that this baby makes it. And that my husband doesn't resent having 3 kids as he was happy with 2.

Well I hate to say it but if he didn't want three kids then he should have thought about contraception. It's not just your responsibility.

No it's not The but as a team l assume they talked about it and it reads to me as though although you agreed next year the OP really didn't want to wait.

Your last sentence is a bit sad OP. Do you really think your dh would resent dc3? If you really think that what were you doing having unprotected sex at any time of your cycle?

You know, I think these are just my worries because of our last experience. We actually decided to get pregnant in December and when I got pregnant our family and friends reacted so negatively that it really made us upset. My hubby was very neutral then too and would get overwhelmed when he would think about 3 in the house. That pregnancy ended in mc and at that time we decided we would wait till next year to decide if we want another one because he knew I wanted one and didn't want to be completely closed to the idea.

I am sure that he will love the new baby but I just worry about the limitations to life it will bring. I wanted to get pregnant only if both of us were 100% into it but it happened now, when we still hadn't decided.

Why did your family and friends react negatively? That sounds very rude of them!

You should be able to call the surgery and tell them and then they get it all started (yours might make you go in though). I had 2 mc between dd1 and dd2 and they kept referring to dd2 as my 4th pregnancy which technically was correct did keep throwing me!
