Citalopram and birth/baby withdrawals

Hi, I wondered if anyone could offer any advice on this.

I found out that I was pregnant with DC2 pretty quickly after having DC1 and in the midst of pretty bad PND.

My GP put me on 10mg of citalopram which has definitely helped. I was told that I would be weaned off these around 36 weeks in order to prevent the baby being born with withdrawals and to avoid a stay in hospital after birth as this was one of the contributing factors to my PND as I had an awful time on the ward and couldn't bond with DC1.

Now my midwife and consultant are saying that protocol has changed and that I will be staying on citalopram and we will be kept in to monitor the baby's withdrawals.

I was up on the same ward last night for reduced movements and it brought it all back so want to avoid a stay there again and having a baby with withdrawals.

My mental health is not currently a problem and I have had no problems since starting citalopram. I did request coming off it a while back as I feel fine but they said to stay on it until I've had the baby.

Can I push for the original plan of coming off it around 36 weeks or do I have to follow this new protocol?
