could this be pre-eclampsia?

I'm 34 weeks. Getting a lot of niggling, stabbing pain at the top of the bump, on the right hand side (not heartburn - getting plenty of that, too.)

A lot of stuff on the internet suggests this pain is a sign of pre-eclampsia, but could it just be the way the baby is lying?

My last antenatal was about 5 weeks ago, blood and urine were ok then (at least they didn't say otherwise...)

I've had no swelling or anything, but very breathless, and the other day I had spots of light dancing before my eyes for a minute or so, didn't think much of it at the time, but apparently thats a pre-eclamptic symptom too.

I'm going to ask for an emergency doctor's appointment in the morning, but I just wondered if anyone knew anything else it could be?

Yes, upper abdominal pain and visual disturbances are indeed signs of pre-eclampsia- in fact, it wold be quite advances. Therefore, please IMMEDIATELY telephone your midwifre, you need a check now, not tomorrow.

Please! I almost lost my son (possibly myself) to this horrid disease.

It could also be tirebdness or th flu but NO RISK IS WIRTH IT!

I will beg and I will shout if that helps?

Round ligament pain?

Oh and I was breathless and had the spots of light thing when I was anaemic during pregnancy too - so it's worth getting checked out but don't panic that it's PE, those symptoms do fit other things too.

Well, I went and got checked out, blood pressure fine, slight trace of protein in urine but the docter says that could just be a UTI.

They want me to go back next week, but everything seems OK.

Thanks for the responses and advice, i'm glad to have my mind put at rest.

gl;ad all ok, infection could cause symptoms you mention so that is good news.

12yeargap, don't want to worry you, but just keep yourself aware, I was sent home with the same symptoms as you, only to go for my normal AN check up 2 days later and be rushed to hospital in an ambulance (was great fun!!! ) to be induced because of PE.

Hopefully everything is fine though

Me too NJ, several times, the last fitting- but I presume they've done swab for UTI? I hope? Fingers crossed!
