No yolk sac - don't know what to think

Had a natural mc in January - started with spotting which gradually got worse. Now pregnant again and had some spotting last week - freaked out a bit and was referred for an early scan.
I should've been exactly 7 wks but the embryo looked 5+ and there was no yolk sac, so I've got to go back Friday for another scan to see if there's any sign of growth / yolk sack appearing. The sonographer would not say anything either way,which I know is her job but that's the hardest but - not knowing.
I've had no more spotting since the scan. Trying to stay positive but also mentally prepare myself, which is hard when I've no idea what's going to happen. Has anyone had similar experiences? Good or bad, I need to be realistic. It's driving me mad.

My own experience, I'm afraid, is not a good one - I also had a scan at 7 weeks exactly (though I hadn't had any spotting, I just wanted to know how things were progressing following a previous miscarriage) but the pregnancy only measured 5ish weeks with no heartbeat, fetal pole or yolk sac visible. In my case, follow-up scans revealed virtually no growth and I eventually miscarried at around 10 and a half weeks. Unfortunately, all you can do is wait.

Is there any chance your dates could be off? For me, there was zero possibility my dates were wrong (since the pregnancy was achieved courtesy of a large yellow box shipped from Denmark) but if there's any chance you aren't as far along as you think, then things may be more positive.

Bad outcomes for me as well (when measured small for dates that I knew) I'm afraid but I have read lots of cases on here where people go back and all is well. It is a case of waiting unfortunately.

I had a similar experience and mine wasn't a good one either I'm afraid. It's a really stressful time, I hope you have some answers soon

Can't offer any advice here unfortunately but I didn't want to read and run. Just wanted to send my love and very best wishes for you! All I can say is I've heard similar cases some with good and some with bad outcomes. Here's sincerely hoping yours is the former. Good luck

Bec it would be very unusual to have a positive outcome where there is no visible sac .

Well when I say similar experiences, it's turned out the ladies in question have had their dates mixed up and been earlier than they thought! Hoping that could be a possibility for OP too! c

Thank you all, am preparing for the worst. I'm pretty sure I know when I ovulated but the first day of my last period could be out by 3-4 days. Probably not enough to make a huge difference.

I'm so sorry, it's rotten. I'm taking it the scan was transvaginal? If not there's a chance that the abdominal scan isn't showing things properly, but otherwise I'm afraid it doesn't sound good

Perhaps the fact that I've had 6 mcs, incl 2 in consecutive cycles and another three in a row, but also have 3 dc can give you some hope looking forward.
