Pregnancy Research (Physiological and anatomy)

Hello everyone.

I need some help from those who know best. You lovely ladies. I grew tired of reading text books and thought I could ask those who do actually know.

I am writing an essay on pregnancy and fertilisation for college on an Access Course.

All I really require is 1 or perhaps 2/3 changes that happened to you while pregnant. The more obscure the better as it prompts further research and questions.

The question is;

"Explain the process of fertilisation, pregnancy and birth analysing the functional changes in the female anatomy and physiology during these processes (AC 3.1-3.4)"

I am not asking for anything personal, intimate or embarrassing per se. Just need to collect some data.

Flu like symptoms very early on (before being able to test)
Being able to smell things a lot more clearly
Tearful
Very tired
A feeling like the bottom of my stomach was tearing when I moved suddenly
Very strange sex dreams about celebrity's I wouldn't have any interest in normally

Very early symptoms for me were sore stomach and leg muscles. The night before I took a test, I used my stomach muscles to get out of bed and it nearly killed me. My nipples were hurting too especially in the cold. Good luck with your thesis x

Extreme exhaustion in first trimester
Increase in blood flow - things got very veiny and I noticed my heart beating faster
Needing more oxygen - I noticed myself often needing to breathe more deeply and became breathless more easily
Dizziness / lightheadedness from about week 12
Crazy sense of smell, and severe food aversions - couldn't eat cooked food for weeks in the early days
I vommed most evenings as a matter of course

Pregnancy has reminded me of puberty in some ways. Strange and unpleasant things are happening to your body, you're at the mercy of them, and sometimes feel quite trapped by them. Obviously there are lots of good things about it all too - but those come later on, when you develop a bump and start to feel baby move. I'm 16 weeks and those things haven't quite happened yet.

The nipple thing as well, yes! Feels like frostbite!

Rhinitis - constantly throught out two pregnancies from about 6 weeks on. Vanished within a few hours/days of delivery.

Nosebleeds in both my pregnancies, I guessed I was pregnant the second time at 8 days post ovulation when I had a nosebleed. Have also had rhinitis like the above poster. Never would have guessed pregnancy would affect my nasal passages!

Rhinisitis, increased discharge, sore/ much darker nips, thread veins, headaches, very sensitive sense of smell (going off fish is kindof understandable but apples?!), morning sickness where it felt like the whole room was spinning!

Yes to rhinitis. I cannot eat a thing stout my nose running and I'm stuffed up every single night in bed. It also means Ive had the most unbelievable bogies that I obviously haven't picked in private

I guessed I was pregnant when the itching started - crazy, distracting itching... which leads to scratching so hard skin wants to bleed. This time around I know it is coleastasis (not sure of spelling).

Bunged up nose. Constant nausea. Extreme tiredness. Aching joints. Smells become more intense. Taste changes completely (no more tea for me). Permanent sense of dehydration, no matter how much water I drink. Twinges around the womb area. Dizziness, nose bleeds, headaches.

I'll be honest, I'm NEVER doing pregnancy ever again!

-At least one nosebleed every day
-Constipation
-my IBS symptoms seemed to be worse and I was more sensitive to my trigger foods for a few months post-birth which was really strange!

This isnt what your question is asking though?

It wants physiological and functional changes, not anecdotes of peoples experiences, which you have no way of showing is related to the pregnancy.

I would read that as you need to be giving actual changes and physiological reasons- increased blood flow, hormone levels, cervical changes etc.

Micah, you are right but they've given me some data to compare common and uncommon changes both anatomically and physiologically. I've the same question on other sites too and there really is no correlation. Every change could be considered physiological externally, internally and significant changes to the female anatomy.
