Just putting this here in case you don't see it on the Media thread. Just desperate to know what the general advice to pg women is in France re cheese and wine (alcohol in general I suppose).

Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Aloha - I've handled loads of cat litter in the last 10 years, and eat my steaks very bloody, but I am not immune to toxiplasmosis yet...

I'm french but living in the UK (I've been in the uk throughout my pregnancy as well). My sister (who still lives in France) told me that she saw a documentary saying that the french are too "relaxed" about the alcohol issue. However when I asked my cousin (who's 2 months pregnant) what guidelines her gynecologist gave her, she said "one glass of wine a week". The guidelines in this country are 1-2 glasses of wine once to twice a week. Therefore they are stricter.
As far as I'm concerned, why not cut it out all together. The way I see it is: Would you put wine in your baby's bottle when he (she) is born?
Saying that, I did have a glass of red wine with ice in it at my birthday meal, and another glass of red wine with ice 3 weeks ago when I was feeling stressed and emotional. It helped.
Happy mummy happy baby (as long as it's not too happy!!!)
