Rhesus Neg and bump to bump - help!

I've just spent the last hour googling this but can't find a definitive answer, and the midwife office only opens at 9 ...

TH came home a little the worse for wear last night...when he's had a few, he becomes a really restless, clumsy sleeper. In the night, he rolled over and tried to clumsily lovingly put him arm around me, but ended up chucking his arm flatly (like, his arm across, rather than his fist) into my bump (I'm 19 weeks).

I'm also Rh-, and long story short had an anti D injection on Sunday just gone, so less than a week ago. Is it worth bothering the midwife about this? I've already had 2 lots of anti D in the past 4 weeks due to spotting, and I've read that it can stay in your system for a few weeks. I've also read that what happened probably is not a severe enough bump to warrant the injection.

Obviously I don't want to put the baby at risk, but I also don't want to put a burden in the already very busy midwives by wasting their time/having an unnecesary, expensive injection.

Any advice would be much appeciated

It all depends how hard the bump was but phone your midwife to be sure. I had to go last week after someone knocked me in the bump with a door handle, they did a blood test and I did need the anti-d. At my hospital they check your blood to see if any of the baby's blood has mixed with your own before giving the anti-d so they're not giving it out without reason.

When you are rh neg and you are concerned about a bump and can't get hold of your community midwife there is nothing wrong with phoning delivery suite who will be more than happy to advise you. As you say it is unlikely that what happened will be of concern but given your history it is understandable that you are anxious so do phone and talk it through.

It was made very clear to me that any kind of bump I should ring triage. It might be a different person to call for where you live but definitely ring someone to check.

Hmm I think you'd be okay but if you're worried call and check - you have 72 hours from any bump to have any anti-d needed so no immediate panic. I feel down the stairs when I was about 18 weeks and had blood test to see whether I needed anti-d, I was fine so didn't have to have it.

I'd be surprised if an arm across your bump caused an issue but better to check than worry about it.

I think you'll be ok if you have already had anti-D anyway but phone the labour ward? (well at least that would be the weekend drill here if community midwives not in until Monday). Especially if your bump has a bruise. I am also Rh- and was told any bleeding or any knock to the bump, especially with a bruise.

OK I've just been to see the Midwife due to spotting. It's been happening for the last week and a half and I have had 3 anti d injections. I was told by the other midwives I needed to have it everytime I was spotting but the one today said I've had more than enough to last 6 weeks! I would just call and ask for advice, thats what they are there for.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. Finally got through to the midwife and she said it didn't sound like it would be bad enough to warrant an antiD and would have consulted with a colleague, however because I have already had antiD this week, I'll be ok as the effects last a few weeks. That doesn't really explain why I had 2 doses in 10 day over the past few weeks, but hey ho, better safe than sorry!

My midwife said if the blow was enough to cause a bruise on my abdomen I was to see treatment then.
