Dating scan says I am only 7 weeks when I am sure I am 10+ (Used ovulation monitor)

Hello there. I had my dating scan today. I knew I am going to be told that I am less than 12 weeks as I have longer cycle and I had my ovulation on the 27th of January and they calculated from my last period 5th of January. But when I saw that little bean on the screen I knew something isn't quite adding up. I had a MMC in August 2014 and have been trying ever since for our second child. My last pregnancy - I went for dating scan and was told there was no HB and fetus meassured 8 weeks. So was quite worried when going today. I was told there is HB now and that fetus seems fine for 7 weeks - but it's not possible as my ovulation was roughly 10 weeks ago. I also had a flu one month ago - ish but didn't take any medication. I told her everything but she didn't seem that bothered. They re-booked me in on the 29th of April. How can I possibly keep calm? Has anyone got similar experience and what was the outcome? Thank you.

Hi Kat, waiting til the end of April would be very hard for you. I'd recommend getting a private scan in a week or so to see whether growth looks ok or not.

They are but they are worth it for your peace of mind.

Do you live near London? The fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street is the top scanning place. It's run by the top fetal medicine expert so you know you are always getting the best.

You can ovulate twice in a month, superfetation.

When did you first get a positive pregnancy test?

It's quite possible that you didn't ovulate when you think you did. As far as I am aware, ovulation tests measure the hormones that precede ovulation, but they are not a reliable way of telling that ov definitely occurred. Your body could have geared up for ov, tested positive, not released an egg but then tried again and succeeded 3 weeks later.

Were you temping? When did you get your first positive test?

Yes I do live in London. I tested positive on the 12th of February. Felt wonderful for the first 6,7, weeks or so, then had a flu - my husband and my daughter - I had it last. And then I felt really sick non stop for over two weeks. Now I feel fairly ok. Feel sick in the evenings.
And I am sure that is the day we conceived because as bad as it may sound, we haven't had sex since.

I'm in a similar situation. My last period was end of December & I am only 10 weeks +3days today!!
Only found out on 22nd Feb that I was pregnant after going bk & forward to doctors just not feeling right. I have pcos so my periods are all over the place - sometimes bleed twice in one month then could go months without one, hence why I didn't think anything of it when I didn't get a period in Jan.
Anyhow found out on the 22nd Feb. ..Doc booked me for an early scan with having a mc few years ago. Going by my last period 26th Dec he thought I'd be around 8 weeks.
scan detected a 6 week sac but no fetus at first...I was a nervous wreck. Had an internal scan & a small embryo & heartbeat was seen :)
Altho not on as far as we thought.
We are now in April & looking bk now from my last period I should be 12 weeks + but I'm only 10 wk 3 days.
It's strange & worrying but just knowing that little one is there makes me happy.
I would agree with the others, try & book for a private scan just to check baby us growing as it should.

I had very similar with my DS.
I was positive on my dates and when I went for early scan they could only see a yolk sac and estimated 5 weeks when I was sure I was 9. I thought baby had stopped developing and the wait til next scan at 12 weeks was agonising. But everything was fine and sure enough they were right! DS ended up being 9 days late and perfectly healthy. So try not to worry too much x

I am ok. I have decided to wait until my next scan on 29th April. I am at peace knowing that whatever is meant to be - will be. I won't be able to change anything with an earlier scan anyway. I have been feeling mostly great - which can be worrying - but I am prepared for any scenario 😊 Thank you. What about you? Did you have any furhter scans?

Hi there. Just a quick up-date as I have promised. I went for my scan and was told the sad news again. Missed Miscarriage. And on top of this, I have been contacted by the hospital that the results from histology confirm partial molar pregnancy - meaning abnormal pregnancy from the beginning.
I am supposed to receive a box from Charring Cross hospital with the containers for urine and bloods and I need to go through follow up programme. I am coping well. It has been a long time now since the sad news so I am focusing on my precious 3 year old daughter who is the centre of our lives. Thank you all.

I'm sorry too.i just finished my follow ups from charingcross after a partial molar in January. I'm now 7 weeks pregnant and have a scan in a few weeks to check I'm ok this time.best wishes to you hope you're ok xx
