Hi all just wondering if anyone had any advice regarding taking aspirin to help conceive ? Ive now has multiple miscarriages so im now prepared to try anything !

Very sorry to hear of your losses. I don't think aspirin is necessarily to help conceive (in terms of sperm meeting egg etc) but more to maintain blood flow and help the placenta. If it helps at all, some IVF clinics suggest a 75mg dose from before transfer until about 34 weeks. But get medical advice - aspirin can have downsides too.

Sorry to hear of your miscarriages are the Drs looking for any causes for these?

I have never heard of aspirin helping with conception but I am given aspirin when pregnant to help with blood flow to the placenta.

I'd have a talk with the dr before going ahead. I did take it and did conceive, but bled at 5.5 weeks quite a bit so they told me to stop. All well so far though.

Thank you all , dh and I are just at our wits end , consultant said I need clomid but I don't meet the nhs criteria as im over weight but I have several pregnancies where I have got to 2-3 weeks on a digi so I presume I do ovulate or I would have not have got that far but we just want to try anything x

I think many doctors work on the basis that Clomid is worth trying even if you ovulate as it seems to up the chances of conceiving. Least that's what they told me (I never had any ovulation issues) and I managed to produce 6 eggs the first month on it but that's a whole other story

I second getting investigated for your recurrent MCs - though I can imagine it might well be hard to press for it for emotional reasons.

Any possibilty of seeing someone privately? It might not be as expensive as you think and presumably they would only advise re your weight, not make it a strict criteria. And hopefully you might get some more information and answers about what your next steps might be.

I took aspirin early on in my third pregnancy having lost the previous two. I think I started taking one tablet every other day after I got a positive pregnancy test. I was under the care of a consultant who specialises in early miscarriage and continued taking it until the end of my pregnancy at 39 wks. It worked

Thank you all , still going through current miscarriage so im so emotional reading all these. I am thankful for everything in my life I am really lucky but I want to be a mum so much. Ive just had a lovely dinner and great chat with my DH who is just thee most amazing man on the planet he's so gentle and supportive and as shit as this is it just brings us closer - one day I know I will be holding a baby sleep deprived and know this was all worth it. Could it be your progesterone levels?

I feel for you, I really do - recurrent miscarriage is a heartbreaking experience. I had 4 MCs and the investigations after 3. Nothing was found to be wrong specifically and we were told to just keep on trying. A number of people (include one sonographer) had mentioned aspirin but it wasn't specifically prescribed. I did my own research and decided to give it a try at 75mg a day from prior to conception. Research suggests that it can help improve the quality of the womb lining as it is built up prior to conception, as well as improve blood flow to the placenta, as it thins the blood slightly.

I'm now 25 weeks pregnant having conceived again shortly after starting to take the aspirin. Obviously this could be a coincidence but at the very least I was relieved to be doing 'something' to help our situation rather than feeling powerless, so if that's all it achieved, I'm still happy!

PS: on the weight issue, our consultant told me that even losing a small proportion of your body weight can make a big difference so don't feel it's a 'lose 3 stone or don't bother' situation - a few pounds can really help.

Thanks all, it's not the weight that's causing the issue the originally said very low progesterone levels that's why I have got the pessaries , the weight thing is only in relation to the guidelines for prescribing as in my current weight doesn't meet the criteria but it's not that that is the issue its actually progesterone but the pessaries didn't help that time , could work next time though...
