Minena out...what next?

I got my Mirena out after 3 years of having it on Wednesday. I imagined (wrongly) that I would get AF straight away. I had light pink spotting (only when I wipe) on Friday and yesterday in the morning but it really was nothing to write home about. We aren't being careful so I guess I could fall PG before I get AF. Just wondering what happened to others? Did you get a period afterwards? How long til you got one? Did your cycles return to normal? Did anyone get PG before getting their period?

I know it's not the same but when I stopped taking the pill I spotted for around 9 days then it was 45 days until I got a proper period.

Also you ovulate approx 2 weeks before your period so perfectly possible to get pregnant before your period starts back.

I bled a few days after it was removed, then had another period about 33 days later, then had periods pretty much monthly until falling pregnant after 5 months. So quite normal really.

It would be good to use a Clearblue Digital ovulation test. You might need two packs of the sticks for the first month, but it does help you to know what your body is up to! Worked first time for me, as well :)

This would be DC#3 and I have fallen PG while on the pill and with #2 that was totally unexpected as we only DTD once that month. I sort of wanted to avoid charting ovulation and all. Maybe I'll see how it goes for a couple of months. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I had mine out as it had been over the 5 year limit and immediately bled for 10 days then 6 weeks later found out I was pg! About 6 weeks! Due on 5th April... So not always long... Good luck to u x

I had some moderate bleeding as soon as it came out, and then a proper heavy period about a week or two later at the exact time I would have expected a period based on my normal cycle (but much heavier than on the mirena). I got pregnant the next month - the first full cycle after mirena came out. We really did not expect it to take so soon. I am 22 weeks now and still a bit stunned.

I also feel pregnant very easily after going off the pill with my other two, many, many years ago.

I fell pregnant first time trying (only DTD once) with DC #2. With #1 I fell pregnant on the pill.
Still no sign of AF but I'm shattered, woke at 4am as I was nauseous, my boobs are tingly and my back is sore. Could be signs of either AF or Pg for me although it seems very soon to be PG.

Could be! But I did have lots of symptoms after, that's just reminded me. You can get withdrawal symptoms.

I had my Mirena out at the beginning of Dec. I had a couple of days light bleeding after that, then no period that month. Normal period in the middle of January, then fell pregnant straight after that.

I would second the suggestion to do ovulation testing, so you know what your body is up to. My GP suggested it, so I would have an idea if there was even a chance of getting pregnant. I bought a big bag of internet cheapies so I could test every day without feeling the need to ration them. I also bought a big bag of cheap pregnancy tests for the same reason. These seemed to work just as well as the more expensive versions and helped me feel like I could do something proactive.
