I know nothing will change it but still keen to hear if baby number two made an earlier appearance than number one? I was 40+9 last time (Angry) so intrigued whether it might be the same this time around. Plus hubby is away in the USA at nearly 39 weeks eek!! (It's work - can't cancel)

All three of my older cousins went over their dates - with 2nd and 3rd babies taking just as long! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news..! i was 40+12 !!!
You never know!

CatsCantFlyFast · 26/03/2016 20:40

Statistically second babies do come sooner, but obviously there are exceptions!

Dogsmom · 26/03/2016 22:21

Both of mine were born at 39w 5d, I was also woken both times at 5.30am with my first contractions.

I think I'm wired up to evict babies 2 days early.

weegiemum · 26/03/2016 22:25

My first was 39+3
My second was 38+4
My third was 36+6 (but that was an induction).

They got lighter each time too - 9lb12, 9lb3, 7lb15.

GoodEggy · 27/03/2016 10:14

My 1st was at 39+4 and my second was at 41. So not for me.

wonkylegs · 27/03/2016 10:25

I hope not as no 1 came at 36wks and I'm 34 weeks now and not ready to have this one quite yet!

ThisWasCrownjewel · 27/03/2016 10:30

Nope, sorry.

DC1 - 37+1.
DC2 - 40+4 under threat of a forced eviction later that day!

Annabrooke90 · 27/03/2016 10:42

Mine went ds1 induced at almost 42weeks
Ds2 spontaneous labour began on due date arrived slowly at 40+5
Ds3 spontaneous at 38 weeks
And ds4 spontaneous at 34 weeks.

MyNameIsSuz · 27/03/2016 11:08

Not for me - my first was born at 40 weeks exactly, my second at 41+1 after a sweep the previous day.

SweepTheHalls · 27/03/2016 11:11

40+6, then 40+10, then 40 (but she was a planned c section!)

IndomitabIe · 27/03/2016 11:18

DS1 came at 40+3. Currently 40+4 with DS2 Hmm

The spacefem stats have 2nd babies at .55 days after first babies. We've missed that too...

Kapowdee4 · 27/03/2016 13:24

DD1 came at 40+9.
Had DS1 last week at 38+3. Had convinced myself he would be as late as his sister but he had other plans. The midwife did say he wanted to be out by Easter!

almmummy · 27/03/2016 17:44

Thanks everyone - not too desperate for baby to come as I have a couple of weeks and note potentially to spend with DD and I am making the most of the sleep. However still can't help getting excited at every pang and braxton hicks contraction!

42 weeks for dc1, 40+1 for dc2

Kitkatmonster · 27/03/2016 18:23

Dc1 38+0, dc2 39+3

FellOutOfBedTwice · 27/03/2016 18:25

I'm still pregnant with number 2 but my mum went 40+14 with me and 40+8 with my sister... So a slight improvement!

RNBrie · 27/03/2016 18:31

There aren't many studies about this... The only one I found is here:spacefem.com/pregnant/charts/duedate5.php

Statistically your second baby will be 0.53 days later than your first according to this study of 10,000 women.

My first was 8 days late and my second 11 days late... My third is due on my birthday so hoping for another late one!!

HeteronormativeHaybales · 27/03/2016 18:34

Dc1: 38 weeks exactly
Dc 2: 40 + 8
Dc 3: 40 + 10, no sign of labour despite walk up steep hill at 40 + 8, gave up and got induced
Grin

GizzyBoo · 27/03/2016 19:48

1st = 40+2
2nd = 40+13
3rd = 37+4 (induced)
4th = 40+8

5th?? Currently 33 weeks. Not holding out much hope of seeing baby before 41 weeks!

NeedACleverNN · 27/03/2016 19:54

Dd= 38+4. 5lb 14oz
Ds=37+3. 5lb 3oz

zoomtothespoon · 27/03/2016 21:31

DC1- 37+3
DC2- 39+1

pollyblack · 27/03/2016 21:42

Not for me, my first was 10 days early and my second was 7 days late

OhGoToSleepPLEASE · 27/03/2016 21:50

DC 1 37+3
DC 2 38+2

PacificDogwod · 27/03/2016 21:53

DS2 was almost 11 weeks earlier than DS1 (T+15) - does that help?! Grin
Nope, did not think so

Hope it all goes v well, whenever it happens.

LittleMouseontheDairy · 27/03/2016 22:37

Definitely make the most of your sleep! Grin
DS1 - 38 + 4
DS2 - 38 + 6
So not much in it.. And I worried about DS2 coming too early due to the '2nd babies come earlier' thing!
