Unfortunately I haven't been taking my folic acid - mainly because I feel sick and can stomach it. How bad is this? TIA x

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

How far along are you? You only need to take it for the first trimester when the baby's spine is developing.

Yes, my obstetrician said it was only worth taking it for first 8-12 weeks... I was super sick so stopped taking it at about 18 weeks when I couldn't bear it anymore!

FoxgloveStar · 23/03/2016 20:51

Are you so sick that you can't swallow a single small pill? :(

emmac3616 · 23/03/2016 21:09

FoxgloveStar The folic acid itself can make morning sickness MUCH worse, pregnacare pills certainly can, not just the act of swallowing the pill!

Take it in the evening/some time when you're less ill? Or eat foods which naturally contain it maybe if you can.

You can get folic acid in liquid form, some people find this easier to keep down.

Really it is recommended you take it but I think it is most important until 12 weeks.
If you are further along than 12 weeks don't take it if you can't but under 12 weeks I really would try your very best to take it
