Hi wonder if anyone could help me the doctors think I have had a prolapse and I was waiting for a referral appointment for the gynocolist and iv just found out I'm pregnant would they still be able to help ??

I suffered with a partial prolapse after my last pregnancy and was referred to a specialist gynecologist. It was decided that Physio would be the best place to start before considering surgery.

I would continue to be referred if you can, as it will still put things in place for potential treatment afterwards.

There is only so much they can do whilst you are pregnant but she did give me some exercises and I will be going back to see her again after my six week check to discuss a more ongoing plan.

I would say that it is really important during your pregnancy to do anything you can.

Thank you my gp doesn't know what kind of prolapse it is it's going to be hard waiting 6 week for a appointment I just hope it's not going to cause any harm to the baby 😢

The prolapse shouldn't cause any harm to the baby, but any help you can get during your pregnancy to strengthen your pelvic floor can only be a positive thing.

I don't know what type of prolapse you may have, but the physio told me she could only check things visually whilst I was pregnant not internally.

I booked a C Section as I didn't want to make my prolapse worse through another childbirth. I received very little advice at my 20 week consultant appointment and felt that I had not alternative but to book the C section to be on the safe side. Last week I was in the maternity assessment unit for another issue and spoke to a consultant midwife who helps people make birth choices. She advised me that a study was carried out in New Zealand which followed a group of ladies who had pelvic floor damage from their first pregnancy and monitored throughout subsequent births. Basically it would appear that there is a very low risk of any existing issues becoming worse during the pregnancy and subsequent birth. I wish I had know this at 20 weeks as I would not have chosen the CS route. I am only 3 weeks away now though so I have decided to stick to the plan.

I would recommend trying to get as much advice as possible, but the Gynecologist is the best place to start.

Aww good luck hope everything goes well for you!! And I had a c section with my first so don't understand what's going on to be honest it's driving me insane x

I'm currently cuddling my third child who is 7 weeks old. I have a stage 4 uterine prolapse which was caused by my first pregnancy. I was referred to consultant care but when I met with the gynaecologist he told me there was nothing to worry about during pregnancy, in fact he said it would likely disappear around 16 week which it did as the growing baby pulled it back up. I had a trouble free pregnancy and the prolapse did not reappear during the pregnancy. The consultant then referred me back onto community midwife care because there was no real concerns.

I had a virginal birth without any problems. The prolapse has only just reappeared and is no worse than it was before this pregnancy.

I was the same as OP worried that the prolapse would cause problems during pregnancy, premature birth etc but I actually carried to 40 + 1 which was longer than both previous pregnancies.

Thank you I don't feel worried now I think the prolapse is through my bowels as iv suffered with constipation for a while but all your advise is making me feel so much better x
