13 weeks - bleeding

I had bleeding (mostly brown but one episode bright red) on and off in first few weeks. I had 2 scans on EPU, no cause found and then things were OK. I had my dating scan yesterday - exactly 13 weeks, no problems seen with baby. My sickness is finally easing and I felt really pleased.

I then woke up in the middle of the night last night to find there had been a big gush of bright red blood. I put a pad on but I think it has stopped - just a bit of brown discharge this morning. I have no significant pain. I do have a dull ache low in my abdomen slightly to the left but have had this intermittently from the start.

EPU number is permanently engaged, my midwife is on holiday. I'm posting because I am upset and frustrated and wondered if similar had happened to anyone else. I am also rhesus negative so am wondering if I need anti D as am past 12 weeks?

I had similar at about 14 weeks with DC1, midwife checked heartbeat, was fine and that was it. You must have a general midwife number on your notes to call, they cant leave you without support just because your midwife is away.

From experience yes they will want to give you the anti d. Do you have drop in at epu?

Thanks for responding.
I spoke to EPU and they gave me a number for central midwives- have left a message so hope they ring me back. EPU said I would need anti D. I know miscarriage is uncommon after a normal 13 week scan but you can't help but think the worst when the bleeding is red.
