Measuring 2 weeks behind at 12 week scan - rescanning in 2 week

A bit of background info - my son was stillborn last year at 39 weeks. Placenta failed but no growth restriction. I'm pregnant again - according to my lmp I was just over 12 weeks at my 12 week scan. Scanner put me back at nearly 10 weeks and baby had a stomach hernia which she thinks is due to the baby being younger than expected. Had a reassurance scan at what I thought was 10 weeks which only put me back by a week. I also took an early pregnancy test which was positive three days before my period was due. Heartbeat has been seen at every scan. So worried. Can't believe I've got to wait another two weeks to see if 1. Baby is still alive 2. Baby has grown and 3. The hernia has resolved itself. It's killing me. Got 1 healthy 5 year old but worried that she may be an only child

I was only measuring 2 days behind at my 12 week scans but my bloods came back with very low Papp a which can be linked to iugr.

I had a few growth scans, each one she was measuring a little bit more behind and on 5th centile or lower. At 20 week scan (actually at 21 weeks) they picked up a brain anomoly. I went to kings Harris birthright the next day where thy looked at my bloods, found more soft markers and broke it to us that we were looking at either trisomy 13 or 18. At this point they readjusted her growth based on lmp rather than 12 week scan and it turned out she was measuring around 2 weeks behind.

We had an amnio and she was diagnosed with T18. We decided on a tfmr and the day she was born (2 days after she died) at 22 weeks she was measuring close to 19 weeks.

They did say at Kings that dd2 had a 'normalish' sized head but her abdomen was under 5th centile. Another marker of a chromosomal issue is that the baby's ab slows down compared to the head, the baby puts all its energy into growing the brain if that makes sense.

I'm sorry it's not a positive story. 💐

When I went for 12wk scan with DD1 I was told I was only measuring 9wks, I couldn't see how it would be possible to be 3 weeks out as surely that would mean I wasn't even pregnant when I got my + test.

I did have an additional empty sac though and also a cyst on my ovary but when I returned at readjusted 12wks everything was fine. DD was born a week before her due date and is now 17.

It's okay - I am aware of this. The hospital I am at tests for the odds of Downs, Edwards and Pataus Syndrome at 12 weeks - if there is any raised risk I will opt for further testing.

Switching between positive and negative at the moment. The stillbirth last year has shaken my confidence and I am constantly preparing for the worst.

My consultant has told me to try and not stress (ha ha!) and that all markers so far are good (heartbeat seen, no bleeding, scan consistently behind).

Can't help fearing the worst though

Before we had our diagnosis for dd2 they told us that as long as she was growing at the 'normal' rate they wouldn't be too worried. It was her growth slowing down that was what they were worried about.

Therefore if baby is consistently measuring 2 weeks behind it may just be a case of a very strange ovulation date and your lmp dates being a bit off, maybe it was an extra long cycle for some reason.
