Stomach/intestines on the outside of foetus 12+2 weeks

Hi all, anyone had any experience of this? Had 12 week scan today and sonographer said that the stomach develops on outside of embryo but goes inside tummy around 10 weeks, however ours in still on the outside. She has referred us for more tests including a cvs because she thinks it could be linked to chromosomenal abnormalities. The nuchal scan was normal/small. I gather it's a bit early to know exactly what's going on, but could do with some advice or similar stories. Thank you

Hi all i can say is that my friends baby had this and had to have small op when born and is now a very happy chap a year on, best of luck . I dont know if they picked it up that early though

As far as I know it can be linked to chromosomal abnormalities, however I think it can be just a 'thing' on its own as in not a marker for any other issues. In that case I think they can plan for it at delivery and the baby will need an op but apart from that is usually ok.

Getting difficult news after a scan is scary stuff. The charity arc might be able to help answer some questions for you.

There's an episode of One Born Every Minute where the baby has this. In his case it doesn't seem to have been linked to anything chomosomal, and he is apparently a healthy little chap now. Did they do your bloods as well as the nucal hold measurement (great news that that was fine!) - I would have thought that would give some reassurance about chomosomal issues. If you didn't want to go for CVS, you could get a Harmony test done privately.
