Paranoid about MMC

Hi everyone

I'm 6+5 today and everything has been straightforward so far no bleeding or discharge etc. Only symptoms I've had so far is extreme tiredness and sore/large nipples. However I am absolutely paranoid about having a MMC. This is my first pregnancy apart from a chemical pregnancy previously. I know it's irrational but I'm absolutely terrified of this happening as you read so much about it on here. I have an early scan booked for next Saturday when I will be 7+6 just can't wait to hopefully see that everything is okay.

With miscarriages, they just happen sometimes unfortunately. Sometimes there are signs and sometimes none at all. If it helps, I had a mmc a month ago (2nd pg) and I was also scared it would happen to me but I had a few signs that things weren't right, which were: very light spotting of pinkish/brown discharge from 5 wks onwards & scans that measured the baby smaller than expected (1.5-2wks behind) Other than that I had pregnancy symptoms right up until i had the D&C.

I know it is hard but try not to worry. It is the hardest part waiting...i have been there! On a positive note my first pregnancy is now a 2.5yo DS! Take care and all the best

The worry is hard in the early days, but you just have to keep telling yourself that your chances of having a healthy pregnancy are much higher than the chances of miscarriage.

I worried so much. I stopped worrying about that at around 22 weeks-now I'm nearly 37 weeks I worry about other things instead
I think parenthood is just fraught with worry. You're not alone though.

I think the reason why you'll read about it on here is that when it does happen to people they need to turn somewhere for support. I was the same, I had an mmc last year and I knew that I could turn to MN for support.
There are so many other stories on here of people whose pregnancies are going well, and the number of them far outweigh the number of bad news stories.

It's not at all irrational op, I know exactly how you feel.

As someone who struggled to conceive ds1 for 2 years, but has somehow managed to get pregnant (at 37) again within 3 months, and whose dh is also an older parent (46) I keep thinking I just can't be that lucky and have scared myself senseless with the stats. I always thought I'd be more relaxed the second time around!

At just 5 weeks I'm trying to take one day at a time but in reality will probably be like this until I can see it has a heartbeat and is developing.

I'd love to hear more from older parents with previous fertility problems who went on to have normal, healthy pregnancies and dc!

I'm 14 weeks and 40 and I have 2 Dc aged 9 and 11 so almost like starting again with this one. Had a mmc before my first dc but no other problems as yet. Obviously there are still risks for me but the wait up to the 12 week mark is such a very long time of not knowing. Just keep thinking you are pregnant today, take pregnacare/folic acid and vit d, rest when you need to and generally take it easy. and worrying about a mmc won't make it happen, just as imagining your baby is ok too.

Just thought I'd update. Had my early scan today at 7+6 and everything seems perfect with a strong heartbeat. I'm not going to be lulled into a false sense of security as I know things can still go wrong but I feel such a sense of relief. Thanks for all the advice.

That's great news.
I also had an early scan today, and it turns out that we are due date buddies, I'm 7+6 too! Fingers crossed that we both have healthy, happy pregnancies.
I read online today that seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks means a 98% chance of pregnancy continuing which is good.

Is 7+6 what you measures me at or based from your last period? It's all so exciting. I seem to have been really lucky so far and not had any morning sickness. I was really worried it was a bad sign but after my scan yesterday I'm hoping I'm just one of the lucky ones!
