High blood pressure??

I'm currently 24+5 with 2nd baby.
I've been to the doctors a few times after having a constant frontal headache for 5 days. The first trip I saw a healthcare assistant and my BP was 156/76 and trace of protein in urine. So I had to go back a few days later to check again. Went back this morning and my BP was 178/86 but no protein. But I can't shift these headaches. Also feel so dizzy and lose concentration all the time. I feel so ill. I've also had a lot of abdominal pain. I've put on 6lbs in the past 4 days. My legs are swelling. And I can't stand for more than 10 minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out.
Should I be nagging the doctors??
Anyone else had this??? Just worried about how high my BP keeps going. Also get bad chest pains and breathless when I feel BP going up...
Is this the start of PE or just high blood pressure. Forgot to say my vision has not been the same for a week now since headaches started.

I would speak to your triage unit and request to go in and be assessed, or speak to your midwife asap rather than the GP.

Id be going to triage maternity. Don't delay. You need some tablets to lower your BP! Good luck x

It does sound like PE. You should be contacting your midwife urgently.

178/86 would be ringing alarm bells - I had severe pe and 160/90 was seen as very worrying. I'd call triage, and if they ask you to go in take a toothbrush as they might want to keep you in to get your bp under control even if it's not pe.

I've just been to the doctors. There was no protein in urine. I have to take blood pressure readings for the rest of today and tomorrow. Then tomorrow afternoon I have an appointment again to go through the readings.. My BP seems to be fine in the morning then after lunch it creeps up and up.

The Dr's - GP - aren't the best people to be making care plans for you, that's why there are maternity assessment units/ triage. I had PE with DD1, had 'funny turns' but never when being monitored. Only time I did was at a routine 38 wks consultant appointment and it took the consultant 30 seconds to decide to induce as my BP etc was rocketing. BP with PE DOES fluctuate, it's not a static measurement so any high should be taken seriously.

Mumteedum · 15/03/2016 22:45

I hope you're being checked properly. I was on meds for high BP in pg. DS induced early as they couldn't keep it down. I didn't have all the other symptoms you describe but they sound like pre eclampsia not just high bp. Don't mess around. It's too risky.

princesspineapple · 16/03/2016 12:15

Can you call your midwife/PAU? I agree with PPs that GPs aren't always the best people to deal with your care plan.
My BP has been high nearly all of my pregnancy, and as soon as it goes over 160/90 then I have to go to PAU for blood profiling and monitoring... Probably been about 20 times and while I sometimes feel like a bit of a time waster, it's so much better to be constantly checked than to risk PE.
Hope everything goes well for you and they can sort something!

I would suggest you head down to the FAU as well. For BP readings they like to take a few measurements, not just the one - monitor you over the course of a few hours, and they may also want to do a 24hr urine test on you to see if they're missing the protein. The symptoms you describe are classic PE ones, so they need to be made aware and try to get it under control if possible. Your GP is NOT a specialist in this area.
