Pregnancy worry

Im 20 weeks pregnant. This morning after my shower i suddening felt very faint and very sicky. I called for dh who arrived to find me white as a sheet and flobby. Managed to get to the bathroom and recovered. Ive had limited energy today but have probably done more than i should although im now resting. I have a few pains in the tummy. Nothing sharp just numb pain. Could that be stretching of my skin or is it something to worry about. I had a limited bump but have over the last few days gained a bump hence why i feel its stretching. No bleeding. Thanks for your advice.

Hi London. Have you had your BP checked lately. I feel exactly as you described and its usually because of a sudden dip in blood pressure. My midwife says not to worry about it unless it happens a lot.

Not sure about the pain though. Probably worth a call to your midwife to be on the safe side

Neh seeing the midwife on tuesday but did wonder if it was bp. What can i do to sort it apart from rest. The pain is very minor but its there.

Have just checked babys heartbeat with a doppler and nice and fast and regular so trying not to worry. Dh is an expert at getting his/her heartbeat. I think best thing is rest, rest and rest now.

Likely low blood pressure. Make sure you are well hydrated and ad some salt to your food. Mention it to the midwife on Tuesday.

Take it easy for a few days and mention to your mid wife.
Have you been making sure you stay hydrated?
Some salt in your food might do you some good as suggested above

I was given aspirin (75mg) last appt but just realised with the move and everything (recently moved hence why doing more than i should) i havent taken it for days. Would that sort the bp out. Im off to take it quickly.

Aspirin is to control high blood pressure I think, so maybe you felt ill after the shower because you hadn't taken the aspirin so your blood pressure wasn't controlled.
Just take it now, maybe put it on a bedside table so you remember each day?

Thanks pink. Have had the aspirin now. I know it sounds silly but knowing its bp makes me worry less. I feel silly forgetting the aspirin but tbh just finding socks the last few days has been a challenge. We unpacked alot of boxes today. Dh is cooked tonight and ill go to bed early with ipad so i can mn i def mention it to midwife on tuesday. Think i frightened dh though as he has been very attentive today. He is normally but over attentive at the moment. Times like this i miss wine and cheese. .

I'm sure your feel better within a couple of days of taking the aspirin.

your dh sounds lovely and attentive, it's so sweet when they get like that.

Oh cheese and wine there's something I miss too, I am currently pregnant with dc2 so none for me either.

Sounds similar to what happened to me on a train where I fainted at 22 weeks. My Doc said exactly what Juno and Pink said, and my bp is v low. My baby was completely fine and I am 27 weeks now.

Hope you feel better and midwife is a good person to ask about it at your next appointment.

Just to clarify Aspirin is not for BP.
Sounds like you need to get your BP checked (you can get cheap monitors to use at home - if you take it in to the surgery you can check its readings against the one used in the GP to check it).
Drink lots of water and eat a bit more salt.
Also have you had any bloods recently. You may well be anaemic and need some iron.

Am on the water everyone and rew prior to his prenancy i was on iron tablets but not had any for months as no period. How safe are they in pregnancy. Take it its another question for the midwife. My first pregnancy hence why i know nothing. I am so looking forward to a cool glass of white wine and a lump of camembert cheese. I was never a big drinker prior to pregnancy, just a glass on a saturday but i was a massive cheese eater!! Its all worth it though...even the sickness...isnt it?

My bp is low in pregnancy too and it makes me feel light headed. You need to drink plenty and get them to check your iron, as others have said.

I also take aspirin, for clotting reasons. I don't think it would help address low blood pressure. As far as I understand it can help women at risk of pre-eclampsia.

You'd need to check with your mid wife about normal iron tablets. But I take a pregnancy vitamin tablet ( seven seas pregnancy) that has Iron, folic acid, vitamin d in it.

There is so much to learn in first pregnancies, I'm on my second and I feel like I'm learning all over again. It is all worth it in the end though even the sickness, there is nothing like holding baby for the first time.

Camembert cheese and white wine, now there is a lovely thought. I was never a big drinker either I think it's because when pregnant it's like a forbidden fruit so you want it all the more.

Iron is safe in pregnancy but ask your midwife. Loads end up on prescribed iron tablets at some point during pregnancy. You can get liquid iron (like Spartone) over the counter. Just watch out for constipation!!

Sorry to bump this but this morning had another funny turn. Felt vvvvvvv tried and like heavy weight on me. Took my iron tablets, asprin etc and went to work to be told i looked white. Eye lids were white and a colleague force feed me herbal tea for abit. Also my heart slightly hurt. Thinking i might be over doing it. Should i let midwife know?

Yes, ask to have iron checked asap. I felt just like you and was anaemic.

Waiting for gp to call back as everyone else seems to have gone home. Do feel slightly breathless too.
