Bubblejet Spa and pregnancy

For Christmas my DP bought me a bubblejet spa to place in the bath and turn it into a jacuzzi style thing. It was fab as I've always wanted one of them.

As I was preparing to enjoy my bath I read the instructions and it said not to use if you have heart problems or are pregnant. I am baffled as to why this is.

It does come with aromatherapy option and I know you can't use them when pregnant so I just wouldn't use them but is there another reason.

Jacuzzis generally carry warnings because they can get very hot and so be dangerous when you are pregnant. For the same reason women are advised to have warm, rather than hot, baths.

does the force of the bubbles have anything to do with it?

I think it's to do with your temperature and how this effects the blood flow around your body including your baby's but a midwive will be able to explain more. I'm sure one will come along in a minute

you should never use aromatherapy oils yourself when pregnant, unless instructed on what to use. they can be as dangerous as medicines if used wrongly.

a hot bath will raise your core body temp-a thing that can cause miscarriage.

hot baths can also lower your blood pressure, leading to dizziness and poss blackouts-not good in a bath alone!its also not clear about the effects of hot water (not warm)on blood flow around the placenta.

happy warm water bathing!

Hijack - Gosh, I never knew that about hot baths - no wonder I felt so awful I had to lie down after one the other day. Warm water for me from now on!
