Hi all, (Sorry if too graphic)
I have had a yellowy/white discharge all day and a few times when I have wiped myself I have had spots of blood on the tissue not sure if it was on knickers as they were black.( I have checked that it was coming from the minnie area and not back passage) Could this be a little cut or do you think it could be the show. I really have no idea.
I am coming up 37weeks and last week babs was 3/5 engaged. Have had stronger than usual BH over last two days (espeacialy lower back pain) which I put down to doing alot of housework etc.
probably nothing but thought I would ask.
thanks in advance
(paranoia (sp) stepping in I think or wishfull thinking!!!)

it sounds like the show to me, as thats what happened to me. but best to check with other mums first

cuppy · 24/05/2004 21:34

I had a show after when i went into labour. Mine was same colour as yours. The consistency was quite stringy and stretchy, and it came out for hours. Id wipe myself and stuff on tissue was still attatched to me iyswim. Sorry to be graphic. hth

Lisa78 · 24/05/2004 21:34

sounds like it could be the show to me too karen - don't forget though, you could be a few days before you go into labour (though I was a few hours after with DS1, and 2 days after with DS2 - mind you, got fed up with waiting for him, ate two fresh pineapples and drove over all the speed bumps on our road! That got him going!)
Lots of luck, keep us posted!
Exciting

baldrick · 24/05/2004 21:54

mine wasn't quite yellow/white was more pink/pale red but I had this mucous stuff that came out quite a bit..ds had also moved down to 3/5 when this happened...rang the hospital and they said don't have a bath and didn't go into hospital with this but about 11 o'clock that night waters broke, went in and ds was born about 31 hours later..

Karen01, is this your first baby?

baldrick · 24/05/2004 21:56

sorry meant to say it was a show, mucous and blood and stuff is normally the plug that covers the opening to the cervix and once it comes away it's on its way...please let us know how you get on

tammybear · 24/05/2004 21:56

i didnt even realise my waters had broken until i was examined at the hospital!! not too scare you karen01!! i wasnt very big when i was pregnant, i was all baby as they say

karen01 · 24/05/2004 22:28

Tb and baldrick - this is my second baby but my waters broke at aroung 21wks with first and she was delivered by elective section at 36ewks due to placenta failing and IUGR.

there was a bit of mucus when wiping not sure about on knickers though. I phoned delivery suite and they have said it sounds like the show and the back ache could be the start, and if i want to be checked i can go in. I will see if back ache gets anyworse, or stronger. (or if i get contractions)
the annoying thing is DH went back to work in cyprus yesterday and isn't due back till 5th June, he may well be getting a phone call to get a flight asap.
Probably a false alarm, but I will keep you all posted.

mrant to add i didn't know waters had gone it was picked up at a scan at 28wks due to midwife being worried at my bumpo as was measuring 22 wks. DD had dolicopholous due to lack of waters and consultant extimated they had broken 21-22wks.

good luck with it all karen01!! ooo im so excited for you if you are in early stages of labour

Levanna · 24/05/2004 23:26

Good luck!

Some of the descriptions of a show have given me a giggle. When I had my show with DD (about 5 days before she was born) I was struggling to find the right words to describe it to my midwife. She smirked at my discomfort, then said "Was it like pink snot? The gooey kind?"! (Urm, it was, actually )

karen01 · 25/05/2004 12:27

Still here no more action so not 100% that it was a show, will have to wait and see what happens over the next few days/ weeks.!!

Had my show 2 weeks befor ehaving DD - all I can say is it was like a big bit of phlegm after drinking a strawberry milkshake!!

willow2 · 25/05/2004 17:01

Twinkie, that is such a nice "visual" - thanks!

kbaby · 25/05/2004 19:11

Hi,
Had my show 10 days ago.
I wiped myself after a wee and the tissue was covered in what looked like egg white. It was quite thick and resembled snot. Since then ive been getting a bit more each day but seems to be green rather than clear.

Im confused now though as I thought the show was clear and the plug would be pinky. I assumed that you couldnt have a bath or anything if you lost the plug but if it was the show it would be ok.

karen01 · 25/05/2004 21:23

kbaby you have confused me now

kbaby · 25/05/2004 23:05

Sorry its just from what Baldrick said about not having a bath confused me. Ive been going swimming and having baths since I had my show and assumed that that was ok.
In one of the books I have(what to expect when expecting) it describes a show as pinky and is caused by the cervix dilating and means labour will usually start within 48hrs and that the plug is a mucous cork that seals the uterus and is passed a week or so before labour. Actually when Ive reread the descriptions I think I mustve actually lost the plug and not had a show yet. I think ive confused myself now.
