I don't remember having them so much when I was pg with ds...but this time I seem to be getting them constantly, and they hurt! They are coming about every 15 minutes and last for a minute or so, it's hard to walk...it's hard to move! This has been since last week and it's getting worse.

Is this normal? All the info I've read on them says they don't hurt..but these bloody well do. Is there any possibility I could be in early labour? Or am I going to have to put up with this for the next 8 weeks...? Nooooo!!!

Anyone have any experience?
Thanks

I would talk to your midwife. I suffered a prem labour (27wks) with my first pregnancy & with my second I had a rule whereby I had to call del suite if I had 4 or more contractions in an hour (works out at 1 every 20 mins for a full hour). I suspect that if this has been going on for a week it is not prem labour - but the one thing that I learnt is that it is better safe than sorry - please call your MW.

I actually had an irritable uterus which meany that abnormal bowel activity (constipation/diahrroea); bladder activity (cyctitis/full bladder); baby activity; being pushed and prodded (esp by careless MWs!!) would cause contractions. As a result of all of the above I had loads of BHs, some 'regular' but they were never painful and I got to 39+5 so it doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem. Doesn't hurt to check though.

Oh and I think you need Natalie Jane to come along and read this post!!! I think she suffered like this for the last few weeks of her preg (not what you wanted to hear).

I had a lot, from very early on, with DS3. With two weeks to due date, and while I was still at work, I was having unbelievably strong BHs and thinking I was going into labour any minute!

Happily, when I stopped work they weren't so bad, and in fact he hung on until his due date...

thanks for your replies...funnily enough, I haven't had many at all this morning, but baby has been using my insides as it's own soft play centre - honestly, it's driving me insane! I can't get a moment's peace!

I'm seeing my midwife on Monday - I'll hold out till then and ask her about the bh, but I suspect I know what she'll say - it's all normal...agh! I seriously cannot wait to give birth and get my tummy back, no matter how much of a jelly belly I'm left with...God, I'm really not one of those women who loves being pregnant.
