Pulsating Sensation in Abdomen - 3rd trimester

Just a quickie on behalf of a non-MN friend... She has texted to say she is getting very strong (although I think infrequent) 'pulsating sensations' in her abdomen... She's due end of this month. Not experienced it myself - anyone else?
Cheers x

hiccups?
(the baby I mean!)
DD had hiccups all the time in the last couple of months

Walnutshell · 02/01/2007 20:35

yeah, maybe - I'll suggest that, thanks

The hosp midwife (on phone) said she'd never heard of it, but probably fine. Not so reassuring for first time mum, but that's medical science I suppose!

Yip, it's hiccups! I, or rather LO, gets them almost daily. It's very much like a pulsing. It's quite annoying actually and the only way I can distract myself from focussing on them, is to jiggle about a bit.

Hope this helps.

yes I am getting this at the moment (33 weeks) and am pretty sure it's hiccups.
quite sweet really!

SHHHH · 05/01/2007 15:49

hiccups . Had them with dd and now with ds2b. A`lovely sensation but do get quite uncomfortable iykwim after having them constant for 5 mins+ !!

SHHHH · 05/01/2007 15:51

BTW i heard from my mw that they are a positive experience for baby as it means they are practicing and learning how to swollow..Apparently its amniotic fluid they have swollowed that has caused them..

Mine has hiccups at least once a day! I was lying in bed last night trying every which way to stop them but they carried on for 25 minutes!

Walnutshell · 07/01/2007 19:24

Told my preggie friend that MNers reckon it's the hiccups but she has since seen her own midwife who says it's something to do with a major vein and is quite uncommon but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Ugh! I think she'll be glad when it's all over with...

If hiccups, then the suggestion' is it a bit like a frog jumping round in your tummy' should produce the answer 'ugggh, yes, now you mention it...'
DS had them about 5 x day - amusing at first...quickly not...

MrsJohnCusack · 07/01/2007 21:00

actually - first time round I could sometimes feel a rather unpleasant pulsing and it turned out that I could feel my blood pumping through some major vein - had totally forgotten about that! best not think about it really...
